Hey BB, this is impressive.  How far are you going to take this. To what degree of control will be the finals? I'm really impressed.

Armstrong.

Thanks Pat59 and Armstrong Smile ...

The product is already released and available in our Animations4iClone Theme store.

In terms of controls, you are in absolute control to shape it anyway you want. The actual response of the mesh is pretty smooth. The prop is scaled to perfectly fit the default iClone Terrain size and the resolution of the textures is very high providing a really good finish at that size.

You can also rescale the terrain smaller and make an extremely detailed base for close shots.

Once you have shaped the terrain Prop to your liking, you can also convert it to a terrain (add to terrain) and all your changes will be maintained  you can save different terrains for future use.

The Handles that are used to shape the terrain operate on 3 layers (Grass, Dirt, Rock) and so you can move each layer together or independently and create for instance, dirt in the deep sections and grass in the ground section etc... Since each layer has its own texture channels, you can even play a Video on mesh to simulate Moving Lava etc..

But the most impressive part is that you can animate terrain deformation on the timeline and create special effect that are really Cool. Smile

For instance, I look forward to what txon will do with this kind of capabilities Cool

Cheers!

This is really cool with the multiple layers. How well does it work for overhangs? Excellent work Bigboss!

Armstrong, they could be tiled to form a larger terrain, I should think. Also, props or avatars could be linked to the nodes to move with the terrain.

This is the best and most innovative idea I have seen after the latest iClone 5.4 release.
Really, really great (and tempting for my pocket...)

it's not hard to remember the precedent exists - the magic roads by Apparition which use the same principles. Apparition also extended it to other uses such as buildings and blankets .. so this could hardly be any novelty at all

To Dumspiro:  Actually, the precedent dates back in 2009 when I introduced the capability to reshape meshes using hidden Prop handles ...

See my original Video dated may 2009 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqZAw9m7OFE !!!

Cheers! BigGrin

So, just to state the obvious...  this is a tillable terrain prop?  Not just a replacement of the default terrain but an actual physically duplicatable tile of sorts??? WHICH, just to further the stupidity of declaration... can be tiled multilply in any one set??? Ermm
