Well, I cant do much until my Theme Packs are redownloaded. They're missing from my Account page. But I can re-work on my book. Just some stills. But they work for the Story.

I enjoy the Unicorns. The skin has a glow skin as well. Difficult sometimes when the light are too hard an angle as they just blow out completely but here I've got some good muscle shape retained.
![](https://forum.reallusion.com/Uploads/Images/69060bec-8f1e-4a8d-9283-2e46.jpg)
I'm still not satisfied with this scene but it looks delicious in 4 and was alot easier to get around. Lots of point light sources attached to the unicorns in an attempt to sto their skins blowing out because of the glow layer. But I need clouds. In motion, this would be so good if I could have some clouds crawling acros the skies making shadows. Did someone say they were developing a cloud sphere system or something at one time a while back?

Well, it took longer than I expected to rework the head for iClone 4 ... but the effort paid off.
Disclaimer: there were no wrist-watches in 1860, but this mocap bundled with iC4 was irresistably excellent.
PS the arms include "shims" to provide better definition.

We've pretty much beat that horse to death in other postings, but to answer your question, it comes directly out of iClone this way. It's a matter of using pure fields of color on all the character textures, turning off Specular and Glossy, and turning Self-Illuminate to 100%.

Very Beautiful..... but I literally just came here to dupe-post some information I just found because it really should be pinned somewhere. This is a massive inspiration and utterly gobsmacking. INCREDIBLE improvements on the new Fred model. Nothing special with the acting--not even any puppeteering--but it's enough to show off the model.
Note that in order to get a handsome man, you may actually want to start with the female model, Jana, and masculinize it.
EDIT: After further refinement of the model, I tried two of the stock motions shown here. Still have not graduated to puppeteering in IC4 yet, so the *excellent* animation credit totally belongs to Reallusion.
Now we can begin to see Fred's reaction to news that Walt is planning a dangerous lecture tour out West.

Working hard on the Set again. Hooray for me!!! And I need some weather contrasts so this is a selection of them except snow because I need a snowman. (I am sure they built Snowmen in medieval days.) THe shadowing in iClone v.4 is much better. The Range control is very good. The contrast seems to go from life to death now, I seem to remember before there were situations where it was a bit unresponsive. Now it rocks. (Dont talk about Rocks!!! :P:P )

Inspiring images and vids! Even though I'm in the middle (actually close to the end) of the production of something, I feel tempted... Armstrong I like your seasons, very beautiful. We just need a seasons adjuster for the trees in iClone; it would further enhance the winter scene in particular.

I do like the cling film skirt. :P Hormonaly biased judgement I'm afraid. The Gowns and Costumes that appear are incredible. I am biased towards period costume though but always impressed at the degree of detail and style.
Additionally I have to say, despite all the fight for better and superior detail in the Actors, Paumanok's Character is incredibly powerful visually on dress value alone. Love the gloves.Re: Winter Seasonal plants. Hi Zuilen, This is simply atmospheric work. Clouds, light and wind etc. The trees have all gone leafless and are skeletal now. If you have never seen inside the BIOSPHERE Packs you're missing out. I cannot stress how many trees there are in and out of fruit in and out of leaves and all corners of the globe in it. Hundreds. My YouTube Channel "ReallusionsBiosphere" will show progress of current work until my own servers are ready.
Today I have reworked MoonFlake Lake. I thought I'd show it as a contrast.
Thisis the scene I am working on Midnight on the borders of the marshes of the Waters of the Moonflake Lakes.

I *really* like this, but I feel it would benefit from a less-is-more philosophy on the teal coloration. I'm not sure what I would prefer: less saturation on the teal; a move towards violet; or warmer earth tones.

WINTER VILLAGE. In trying to add variety to the MCPE I've spent the afternoon Snowifying all my houses. A fun task and an easy one. Even m' Horsalum has been snow'd on! :P The Pic I thought was worth a spell in here!!! Armstrong.
![](http://www.raggedybird.com/iclonetutorials/SnowyVillage2.jpg)
I have to say that playing with the water to make it look snowed over in as far as I could, making it static and making the ripples MAX out and then adjusting alllll the elements of refraction, reflection, surface shine and luminance and so on.... you can actually make quite a pleasant snowed on ice feel in many different guises.

Hi Shy n Paumanok...I think this Medieval Village is a winner. With BioSPhere (Where it definitely works best smongst for forestation and old worlde woodlands!!!) as long as your eye is on composition "pockets" for use with a relocating Cam, the results are such alot of fun. I thought this was better shown here comparing the two. One wierd issue I cant quite fathom. I havent noticed it before. It could be because I've recoloured the groundplane to snow, but look at the cartwheels and the closer buildings ground touching edge. I cant sort out that white line "underglow" bit in the lower image. :) Whine whine whine. :D
![](http://www.raggedybird.com/iclonetutorials/SnowyVillage2.jpg) This is the sttyle of the final animation.
![](http://www.raggedybird.com/iclonetutorials/SnowyVillage3.jpg)
And this was the scene before I added falling snow and before I cranked the lights around. I corrected the far house and span it around for better interest. I like those goods scales. Moved the left tree. Raised the camera viewpoint so's not to clutter the sky with so many branches. Pulled back to shrink the buildings and space the edges and reorganised the lower left corner.
Interest! Im using a 50 m/m with the Fog set to 3.5k/18k and One directional light and ambient at 40% midgrey. I've shunted the light across overhead to backlight the houses and at 50m/m the realworld backshunt of the camera is probably about 100 feet but look now, with backlighting, how soft the houses appear through just that extra bit of mist. It's not alot but thats a really appealing alteration on picture atmospherics on my part. I dont often do comparisons like this but that's a small adjustment (backlighting ignored) with a large effect. Snow: What we need Reallusion to write is a randomised script that sends a snowlayer over all upper facing surfaces, angles + - allowed, and we can thicken it to make snow fallen as opposed to snowfall. :P Is there such a thing?

My first real video using iClone4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjo-HZRcOwY&hd=1&ws=1 The unadulterated file in full high def glory is here : http://www.pictodvd.com/iClone/GirlandPond.mp4 A big thanks to stuckon3d's intro classes, for finally giving me the comfort level to get this done. This video started out with my finding a fountain 3d model in 3d warehouse, importing it into iClone using 3dexchange. Then I added water, plants, props etc. I bought an instrumental music piece from Amazon today and decided to add a character and dance to the scene to accompany the music and this is the result. razr, you definitely have the edge! pretty to look at and your taste in music is impeccable.
You could take this to another level with facial animation.
Since it's a silent movie, you can type in nonsense words into the Text to Speech, and then start adding facial expressions to the resulting track.

Hi there, I'm new-ish to iClone (well I've downloaded it three months ago) and I'm totally blown away by it. I wanted to share my test reels with the iClone community! I'm mostly interested in Green Screen Compositing... tracking particles... mixing avatars with real people... trolling the Google 3D warehouse... all the amazing stuff that iClone makes possible! Well, it's taken me six months of learning iClone, Crazytalk, Google Sketchup, iClone 3DXchange and Mixcraft (music composition software), but my book trailer is finally done. If everyone likes it, I may just give up writing and take up producing book trailers (it was often difficult, but it was also quite addicting)! I've visited this forum often to search for answers, and I think there were only two I couldn't find, but then I asked and was enlightened very quickly by the wonderful veterans here. You guys are great, and this is a kind, helpful community. Anyone interested in what a writer can do when she's desperate to sell her novel, see my trailer on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/melissaconwaywrites?feature=mhw5 ![](https://forum.reallusion.com/Uploads/Images/19e209da-c919-4a2f-9629-366e.jpg)

This machinima was made using footage from Second Life, iClone 4 and 3DS Max. It's based around a song by EvaMoon Ember, a live performer from the Seattle area who does live shows in Second Life. http://www.blip.tv/file/3691966 The close ups of her singing are done using iClone. Originally, they were recorded in Second Life, but the lip synching is very poor and was unacceptable on close ups.

Paumanok West (9/14/2010) Silent animation test for mast-hemmed Manhattan as seen from Brooklyn Heights 1859...
This new version shows New York under a thunderstorm. This project was relatively light on 3D content, and heavy on its use of animated textures on flat planes. The twinkling city lights, for instance, are created with an animation in the Blend channel. The animated foreground is an image overlay, hand-modified to turn the tree leaves translucent, as shown during lightning flashes.
I produced a fine-looking clip with this setup before exploring the more adventurous stylization shown here. I ran the lightning video through Photoshop filters to toon it. I also filtered Reallusion's water animations to stylize them.
The result goes beyond the "out of the box experience" of iClone. ;)
Note: you can view this in true HD.

Concept art. This gives you a different scene to see for a change: an urban stable at night. The stable is a screencapture from Sketchup, heavily processed in post. Still needs horses! This figure demonstrates a great cheap trick to fake shading on my flat-color character render. Lower the lightness and saturation, then lower brightness and boost contrast. Composite the dark image over the original image by a tiny offset. Voila! Rim lighting. This would work on an animated sequence as well as it does on a single image.

I am just sad that I was using a not-so-good camera at that point... a ~3 megapixel 5-year-old camera with zoom issues and an issue with its insides that made little holes in the pictures (you can see little white dots if you look closely to most of the pictures; I have been meaning to photoshop them out and ask if the packs can be updated).

"OCEANICA." M.C.P.E. Set 11.
Oceanica is a follow on project for a set thats Ocean based in a flooded world or not. The final water based modern town is encased in a crystal cover that opens up like a glass lotus and hence the time taken to develop the idea. ![](https://forum.reallusion.com/Uploads/Images/4f097bc5-b4a3-4fd2-b107-edae.jpg)
The set itself will be quite basic and rely in some extensive use of the "digital-silk" in iclone which gives everything it touches wonderful flowing motion. ![](https://forum.reallusion.com/Uploads/Images/e00c4ede-3f46-4aa0-af61-3d00.jpg)
The strut-rigging is simply somethjing to keep the "Ships at sea" feel because this really is an isolated environment. The three platforms are: 1. Livestock stabling, blacksmithy, Goat pens, Sheep etc. 2. Crops and Orchards. Root vegetables. Herbs and equipment to harvest, tender etc. 3. And Storage. Straw, harvested foodstuffs, dried fishes etc.
Centrally the Godess, who, of course, provides and the main inhabitants who enjoy what otherwise is rather like a wealthy escape from the scabby landlubbers.
I thought about doing "Shabby" but the thing is, visually it just ended up like a Waterworld remake. So, I thought a Disneyfied "Pretty" angle would be happier. As if there really is a successful way of living at sea.
The best thing about iClone currently is that if you cna imagine it, you're 101% given the opportunity to create it. I like that! Anyway, this is my W.I.P. in iCLone 4 to date. Armstrong.

looks very nice. Great job. :)
My one comment is on the surrounding 'islands' on pilings, the outer curve is sort of angular. I am not sure if it is desired that way, but it might look even neater if the outer curves had, for example, 36 or 48 segments. This would give it less of a blocky feel and would make a more organic curve, although working with the curve would become more of a challenge. I generally stay away from such a move, but recently I have found that large props require extra attention such as working with complex curves and figures to make the lighting on them extra-realistic.
Of course, you don't have listen to me, I am certainly nothing more than a novice compared to you. :)

Hello Samulis. It's a good point. I didn't ask for a purer semicircle. I use whats supplied. That semicircle is standard iClone architecture. I could have used a paper object and stripped a thin piece of paper around the perimeter. But, I only use iClone standard kit. Else how do I promote it. Last time I asked for hi-res objects it was suggested I buy 3DSMax. So I no longer bother. Also, it's theater. Not realism. I am kind of a midway between Paumanok and Reality. That nondescript inbetween world of makebelieve and imagination and "almost!".
Paumanokwest: What is digital silk?
Hi Paumanok. Love your work by the way. Probably what I refer to are the flag objects in iClone. I have styled one of them to react as heavy silken cloth. Armstrong.

Interesting approach. I work with skechup for my model work and the basic arc you use has 12 segments in it. Of course, it's easy to increase it.
When I originally started model work for iClone, I used the 3D blocks then as well (until I started using 3DXchange). If you would like, I can make you some special blocks (e.g. more detailed arch, thinner arches and specialty blocks, etc.)... I understand how tedious and strenuous it is to make everything using the pre-supplied figures, even with practice. However, if you still are cemented only on using the basic tools given, then I salute you. It is probably the most brilliant usage of those blocks I have ever seen; nothing I have done in the past with them even compares to what you did here and in your other works. :)

Thanks for kind words, guys. It looks that I will be here a lot; after first serious toying with iClone, I start to like it more and more every day. (This easyness of importing assets... Thanks, Stuckon3d. It was your tutorials and specially one movie (Turkey dance, I think) that makes me wonder about what iClone is capable for. Thing is, last couple years I was in some juries of film festivals watching many iClone movies with same dry, over clean picture, stiff animations and bad camera work so I wasn't looking at iClone very serious. Then I saw your movies, some SmallWonder Studio movies, and start to look closer. You thinking out of the box was crucial I think, like in these waggon tutorial. I see that you have new one, with boat. I must see this immediately. Thanks again.

tylerzambori, thank you very much. I am afraid, only parts on the wheel (videos Pinocchio must deal with and change colour in every passing are iClone, rest is MotionBuilder.) To tell you the true, I have some kind of love and hate relationship with iClone from very first version. I don't know how many times I was install and then after few weeks uninstall iClone, but lately it looks that we have some kind of agreement. (it sounds like marriage... It is a wonderful, hard working and easy going wife, after all. With version 5 on its way I feel we could have plenty of kids.:))

Really great work! The lack of response was no doubt due to a lack of visuals in the post...just the link which takes a while for people to get around to seeing things. Anywho, I was wondering what is the relationship between motionbuilder and Iclone? Was motionbuilder used for all the animations (which are splendidly fluid) and Iclone for all the visuals?

Movie was assembled entirely in MotionBuilder, but with many scenes from iClone. Meaning; The Doll, the Fairy with all this strange flying machine, camera, light, everything is MotionBuilder, with models from Daz. (MotionBuilder is perfect for importing Daz models, it can import, via FBX, all morphs, animations, etc.) In iClone I filmed footage for video walls spinning around on machine, ones that Doll must go through. Before importing videos from iClone I made alpha parts on them in AfterEffects. And then it was just matter of calculations, speed of videos from iClone, match with speed of machine in MotionBuilder and so on. Simple really; iClone footage as 2D video textures glued on 3D machine in MotionBuilder. Glad that you like it.

"How long did the production take?"
Few months, I don't know, I always have couple started but unfinished project on the table, uncertain in the way I want movie to go, waiting to learn some new process to be able to finish a movie. For example, for this one I made first minute (fairy approaching and lifting the Doll) two years ago, but I wasn't sure how to deal with Doll's transformation so I just left it knowing that some good idea (in this case, surrealistic videos that will change Doll's colours) will came up. Another example, I have a good beginning of my new movie about two knights fighting and revealing, literary, their insides of their heads, thoughts of each other - but I am not sure how to visualise their inner worlds so I will wait iClone 5 to see how good cel shading will look. If it will be usable, I will made movie semi tooned, hybrid of fighting scenes in MotionBuilder and insides of their heads in iClone. (or, of course, if new iClone will be very, very good, I could remade all scenes in iClone) Here is that beginning, you will see what I am talking about: http://vimeo.com/20278808

TRAINING DRAGONS.
My Dragon is being stylised currently. But as he Speaks and is highly intelligent (as one would expect what with being approximately four and a half thousand years old) I thought the eyes were "savage" eyes and to psychologically make his (their - He+She) appearance look knowledgable I have created some 'humanised' eyes. Also, these are actual spherical eyeballs with working eyelids such as they are and with a little work, he peers, glances and blinks but you've got to work on it. Manual adjustment. I think it does the job. The expression is pleasant.

Any newbies who fancy their Dragons being educated drop me a line and I'll send the parts. They're made from basic architecture as per from v.1 iclone so there's no pack infringement or anything.
Also the Saddle and riding harnesses should be ready within the week for those who have Dragon Riders in their midst.

I'm actually quite surprised with the Dragon. It's remarkably stylizable and can be edited dramatically away from the Default form. Here in my worlds Dragons are Sleek, Slender and Graceful. And pulling out his extremities and minimizing the body, torso, and legs especially ythe thighs as far as I can didnt show much ruin in his skin stretching too far. This is a surprisingly pleasant animal to work with and, I think with enough time pulling him around trees and hanging off Castle walls it'll add some pleasant impact. What we could do with in reality are exchangeable heads. Not all Dragons kill. Many are excellent councilors and hold political discussion so we definitely need Dragons recognizeable from one another besides their coloration.
