Hi Everyone,

iClone 6.02 has now been officially released.

You can update using LiveUpdate, or from your Member Account under Patch/Bonus, or by going to Help > Check For Update in iClone 6.

Can you please post all issues, bugs, glitches, etc. that you find with the iClone 6.01 release here.

Of course feel free to post general feedback in your own threads but it will be great if we can keep outstanding issues and bugs here in this official thread. It will make it easier for the development team to track any outstanding problems and get them fixed quickly.

Please do try to provide your full system specs and a description of the problem when posting issues as this will help greatly. If you can provide step by step information so we can repeat the problem even better.

Not mentioned by Peter but also fixed in 6.02:

|FIXED| iClone Fails To Properly Save Layouts With Negative Window Coordinates
(On Windows, window coordinates can be negative, for instance if your second monitor is on top of your main monitor. But in this case iClone Window -> Workspace -> Save Layout fails to record the true coordinates of any window placed in the second monitor. Those windows will be saved with (0,0) position, that is on the top left of the main monitor).

For the records, not fixed/still issues in 6.02:

|BUG| Loading Sub-Props Materials From Disk Corrupts The Scene Tree
(If you have a prop having several sub-props, and try to load from disk a Material for one of the sub-prop surface (in my case with external textures referenced, did not tried yet with embedded textures), then the scene tree becomes corrupted, listing twice the sub-props.
Only workaround I've found so far: Save the master Prop on disk, delete the Prop from the scene, reload the master Prop from disk.)

|CRASH| When Trying To Access Network Shared Folder Link From iClone 6 Custom Folder
(The link appear in the iClone 6 Content manager window, but when double click on it iClone crashes.)

|ISSUE| Animated Substances Do Not Animate In iClone
(iClone does not animate time dependent Substances.)

|ISSUE| IndigoRT Camera And iClone Camera Do Not Match
(When sending a iClone scene to render in IndigoRT (with the IndigoRT iClone plugin), the IndigoRT Camera framing does not match the original iClone camera framing. FOV is different.)

|ISSUE| With Paint Toon Levels To Full White, Materials Still Show Specularity
(When using the Toon Shader and setting both Paint Toon Level to full white the image appear unshaded, which is the expected behavior - granted the used Directional Light shadows are disabled. However, if the used Directional Light is rotated, then Specularity still shows on materials having specular values.)

|WISH| Ability To Save Rendered Image Sequences As OpenEXR Files
(As we can load OpenEXR files for textures, it would make sense for iClone to also gives the option to save OpenEXR files for image sequences rendering.)

(We need to have an option for "natural" lights attenuation beside the current linear one. Even an approximation of the inverse square law rule with a finite distance would do.)

Not mentioned by Peter but also fixed in 6.02:

|FIXED| Timeline --> Remove Motion --> Right Leg Typo (was a 2nd Right Hand).

Not fixed:
- Spring no longer works after resizing Avatar (AVATAR PROPORTION)
- loading *.spx removes lPectoral and rPectoral (now Chest), its no longer possible to switched on or off lPectoral and rPectoral individually.

No issue here.

After upgrading to 6.02 the plugin tab is still here but I did a Window -> Workspace -> Save Layout before upgrading, perhaps that helped.

Also, check that the Plugins -> iClone Indigo Render -> Toolbar is checked.

Hi Peter,
the error when rendering I had reported today again is fixed with patch 6:02. Thank You. It works again as usual from IC 5. There go again render beyond 1800 frames. Also you can resist Create- projects over 9999 frames out

The error that you could nich anwedne several motions in a row on an avatar, or that the timeline stopped just after 2 or 3 Motions seems to have been well addressed in 6:02

As I recall you have both iClone 6 Pro and iClone 6 Standard. Is the Plugin tab missing from Pro or are you looking in the Standard version for this? Like others the Plugin is available in the Pro version for me.

I wish RL could use auto-updation of THE PACKAGE through embedded ftp on the users' machine rather than asking them for http download for such large content everytime.

This could help updating the marginal changes in the content on the users' machine. The content of the "user's package" could be defined at the server side based on his purchases. Somebody out there got to be a little creative ! This is a 20 year old PUSH ( can also convert to PULL ) technique tried, tested and delivered.

Time RL actually thought of a "Connected Community" of its own.

I can confirm. Even though Horizontal Flare is now horizontal, the Vertical Flare is still missing as was reported before. For example, this is what the Spectral Cross looks like (which combines Horizontal and Vertical Flare):

This was reported quite some time ago, so it would be great of this got fixed before 6.0.3, as this is hard to work around.

Specs: i7 2600K; GTX 980; 16 GB RAM; Windows 7 Pro SP1.

Although it wasn't on the list of fixes, one can always hope...:unsure:

These are still two problems I reported that are related to shadows.

One is that the shadows for spotlights don't work correctly as discussed here: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost220528.aspx.

The second problem is shadow duplication in larges scenes as reported here: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost220709.aspx.

I discovered that in a large scene of a city in the desert there was a shadow without anything that cast a shadow nearby. In a test project I was then able to replicate that clearly.

MY REQUEST... Is to have a list of all publicly reported, but unresolved issues.

I don't expect Reallusion to list everything.  I'm sure they know of issues we haven't reported here.  I don't know any software company that does that.

But they say they're tracking all our reports, especially ones posted in the "Official Issues" threads.

Sure, an ambitious person could scroll through all 28 pages of the 6.01 entries, and all 73 pages of the 6.0 entries, weed out conversational (not bug report) ones, weed out the duplicates, and compile a list of all reported issues, then subtract the fixes from 6.01 and 6.02....... or Reallusion who is already tracking them could do that for us.

That would save us the trouble of trying to remember what's already been reported.  There should be no need to waste our time writing up reports on known things, or reading through 100 pages of entries (search is hit-and-miss if you don't search for the magical same phrase as what was used before).  And there should be no value in burdening Reallusion with duplicate reports, right?

Just a thought.

Project Settings --> Time Unit --> Play Mode --> ONCE/LOOP (Set it to LOOP) and save the Project. Restart IC and load the project

Apply a motion to a figure with spring. The springs are ON, but no effect. I have to manually switch springs OFF --> ON, before the springs work.

Little problem (with work-around): if the timeline range cursor marking the end of the range is moved to frame 1, then there is no way to drag & move it.
The work-around is to start a rendering with any range, so that the cursor move somewhere again (and by using AVI it is possible to skip the rendering at the time the window with the compression selection pops up).

I agree with Viking that we need something a more efficient. We call that a bug tracking system in the trade. I think Bugzilla is one option, as it has a web interface.

It would be good to know what is recognized as a bug, what has been resolved, what is still being worked on, etc. Then we'll also know what has been overlooked.

And perhaps give bugs an identifier and a description.

EDIT: It would also be helpful for us to get more feedback from RL, such as we got from Soya for a while.

I agree 100%, posting bugs in a forum and hoping they are seen doesn't seem that efficient to me, especially when everyone (including me posting this) posts something other than a bug as their reply to this thread.

Jira, Mantis, any bug tracker will do. Even giving us transparency on what has been reported, and what is documented will keep us from posting the same issues OVER and OVER again hoping they are resolved.

Also agree with Prabh who about installing content. Should be way easier than it is, should auto-update our content. Reallusion makes a change to a content pack? Open the downloader, and download the updates. DAZ does this with their installer, no reason why Reallusion couldn't do something similar.

And also for the love of God add an option to let us download our entire 3D marketplace bought content instead of 20 items per page.

Even though I am also in favor of having a report about what is still to be fixed, I think RL made so far a very good job because most of the problems have been fixed so far.
Personally, I checked all the ones that I reported and they have been fixed: I think everyone should do the same.
Then, regarding the way to report a bug, what I did was to report both in the Forum official thread and in the online Ticket system.
Kind of redundancy, but RL always replied to each ticket I sent.
Vice verse on the Forum thread most of the times I got replies from the ppl rather than RL.

In summary, even though a tracking system is welcomed, I am quite pleased by the fact that a lot of bugs have been fixed after just 2 months from the official delivery: this demonstrates that they internally tracked the bug issues and can react quite quickly.
I am also sure that RL, in the next IC updates, will take care of the left ones, plus adding a lot of cool new stuff.... for free ;) :D :P

Frankly, I don't expect access to Reallusion's official bug tracking system.  (I've seen that done for a non-Reallusion beta program I was in one, and it was great.)

But, similar to the "fixed" list, a simple list of unresolved items posted in this forum (already public knowledge) sure would be a nice step.  It would also make it possible for us to know if they have overlooked something.

Example:  There were two "glare" issues.  One was fixed, the other not.  Is the un-fixed one on the ToDo list, or was it overlooked?

The Indigo plug-in Tab disappears because the version between iC6 and Indigo plug-in is different. The rule of the patch is that it won't patch Trial version. Therefore when you excuted v6.02 Patch for your iC6 Pro+Indigo plug-in Trial, your iC6 becomes v6.02, but Indigo Plug-in is still old.

Solution: Please remove indigo plug-in and download indigo v1.02 Trial. Install it, and you will see indigo Plug-in Tab.

Yes, if the versions of iC6 and Indigo Plug-in are not the same, this will happen. The new iC6 Patch (v6.02) will patch Indigo Plug-in along with iC6. The earlier versions won't. ;)

Great to see these fixes, I'm really like iClone 6.

Still one problem which I still have occurring; when trying to load up some project files, it freezes at 'Converting Data' on 40%, and then crashes. The suggestion was previously that there was a problem if there were soft cloth enabled items in the project file, and beginning by opening a project with no such cloth (eg, I use the default indigo render project) and / or adding new content and playing around with this for a bit, then eventually you were able to open the previous file. Not sure if something wasn't loading correctly straight away or something - quite strange!

ISSUE NOT FIXED. Also happens to Widows 7 computers by the way !

Here are my findings :

Overall the application become more stabile.

before 6.02 : Mason and Heidi Sofa scene 1800 frames crashed when exporting

after 6.02 : Mason and Heid Sofa scene 1800 frames, exports fine (to Indigo)


before 6.02 : Abandoned House scene crashed after 30 frames

after 6.02 : Abandoned House scene crashed after 82 frames.

There seems to be some improvement. Still some way to go.

the problem with the picker is still not fixed
Please RL fix it, it is annoying.

especially disturbing with a large Puppet accessory hierarchy . I must expand the whole thing and select the item, because pick texture do not work in iClone 6 in this case

I had this same problem, but it turns out it was that my hard drive didn't have enough free disk space. Make sure you have 6-10 gigs at least free.

Edit: As far as the coverting data on 40% issue goes. You need enough free disk space, especially for larger scenes. If you don't have enough IC6 will get stuck there and fail to load.

|BUG| Saving Collisions to a file does nothing / overwrite an existing file delete this file.

The "saved" files are not traceable and lost.:angry:

(As a workaround until the next patch: Save the avatar includes the collision just created.)

Not sure about this one but softcloth with baked checked and unchecked seems to have the same effect. It keeps baking on top of the existing sim if you keep playing it. It is iterating on top of an existing sim.
I assumed when unchecked the softcloth would not be overwritten anymore.
So what I do is uncheck softcloth completely so that the current sim is not overwritten when replaying the scene.

Feature request. Local setting for dynamics per item in Iclone. I think right now its a global setting so everything gets overwritten if we simulate another item in Iclone. I want to specify an item like a softcloth to keep its current sim/state while doing another on a different item. If there is a local setting for dynamics I haven't seen yet, disregard this. :D

Haven't had time to really work with physics in version 6 but in version 5 you could do this by removing the item from the physics simulation after it's run. Turn off physics on that item or items then run the simulation with other item or items. I hope this is still available in v6.

I think it is something to do with larger projects (this file is several hundred megabytes in size), although it does seem more stable in 6.02 - I actually managed to get the file loaded first go this time. My hard disk space is fine though - 1.67 terrabytes free. I think I just need to wait and leave it - the crashing happens if you click anywhere on it. Hopefully it will work well from now on!

I also have the 40% crash problem on certain (not too big either) projects after the recent upgrade. Not every time though which is most frustrating. I am running an Intel i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti and Windows 7 The hard drive with the temporary folder on has 799GB of memory at the moment. Any more help/suggestions will be most useful.:)

Fixed: Exporting IGQ from the Indigo plug-in causes a crash in some Windows 8.1 environments


ISSUE NOT FIXED. Also happens to Widows 7 computers by the way !

Here are my findings :

Overall the application become more stabile.

before 6.02 : Mason and Heidi Sofa scene 1800 frames crashed when exporting

after 6.02 : Mason and Heid Sofa scene 1800 frames, exports fine (to Indigo)


before 6.02 : Abandoned House scene crashed after 30 frames

after 6.02 : Abandoned House scene crashed after 82 frames.

There seems to be some improvement. Still some way to go.


It is probably because Iclone plugin is exporting textures per frame in an animation. Buffer overload.
According to some people in the indigo forum this is not the case for other exporters. The indigo files only point to the path of the textures on the hdd and there's no need to copy the textures at all. I prefer collecting the textures into a single folder though.

Opening the iqs files with notepad its xml


C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\indigo_temp_dir\indigo_temp_dir_1423969077\IndigoImage_33.jpg

This could be pointed to a single collected texture folder or straight to the ilcone document path on the hdd. Depends on the user what option he wants. But there should be no duplicates resulting in gigs of files exported from Iclone indigo.

Its extra effort for Iclone to be exporting these duplicated textures per frame.


Frame 0 is inaccessible in 6.02?
Wasn't frame 0 the default start frame before? :D

Same here: randomly, the loading phase of the project I am working on can crash IC6.02 when it arrives to this 40% pop up window indication.
No clue why that's happening, because later on (i.e. after some attempts) I can load the project...

Strange behavior with speedtree wind.
Create a hold key at 10 for example. Another key at 20 with increased strength and frequency, direction.
Keep pressing the stop and play button alternatively.
The wind is picking up speed everytime you click both alternatively.
Frame 1-10(hold) now has strong wind after multiple times of stop and play presses.
So I don't know how to get event driven(keyframed) wind in a scene since the wind is acting strangely on speedtrees. Its like a random seed and pressing stop and play makes it even wierder.
Also deleting the key with strong wind will still affect the trees. :D
Keep clicking the stop and play alternatively then the trees will gradually slow down its movement until there's no more movement. Strange :w00t:


And that first frame still has that glitch with speedtree like with softcloth. The dynamics try to "settle" on the first frame abruptly. Negative start frames would be nice.

Here is a problem that a member discovered with 5-pinned cloth, which has 4 corner pins and 1 center pin.

According to the iClone 6 Help, you can delete the corner pins and then simulate a cloth that is held in the center, while the corners fall down. However, this is not what happens. After removing the corner pins, the cloth still behaves as pinned at the corners.

I was able to repeat this, following the instructions in the Help.

EDIT: As was pointed out by rampa, this does work with Bullet physics, but since the physics type cannot be set per object that is not really a viable solution. The iClone 6 Help mentions the pinned cloth as one type of Soft Cloth but does not state that it only work for Bullet physics.

Soya, I'll try to see if there is a specific condition that causes this to happen. Others have observed this behavior too, so it's not just me.

The audio drifts in the timeline for lip sync. Please fix this. Also please add the ability to have the audio play as we slowly scrub back and forth to test lip movement during animation.

Just for grins can you render the "drifting" segment and see if it renders out of sync too?

I've seen this since iC5 but the render is fine. Still annoying though. In iC5 I would use the "Quick-Shading" mode as I worked on the Stage and it would play fine. In iC6 we have the "Quick or Custom" mode....still trying to figure if it is as effective on Stage playback as the old "Quick-Shading" mode.

1. Search Box does not cause iclone crash
2. Physics Segway does not shake like a drunk being bitten by ants in an earthquake
3. Motion Montage Vol. 3 Particle Motion Systems- Track and attach dummy now visible. Workaround used o be CTRL-D
4. AVATAR Motion - Can now add several motions in a row when selecting from the motion library.
ADDING MOTION from the motion library generally did not allow more than one even with time remaining on the timeline. In a few cases more than one could be added before the error occurred.
If "Perform " path is correct then motions could be added until the timeline is exhausted.

NOT FIXED.
1. This is not an Iclone error.
PERFORM. Only motion error remaining is the developer "perform" not working because of using a fixed "hard coded" path not a relative path based on where Iclone is installed.
A year ago I had the same issues with Bigboss animals and he fixed them. His was the only animal "Avatar performs" that worked in Iclone 6.
The newer developers' perform motions did not work because it was searching for my Iclone where it was not installed an on drives that did not exist.
Maybe you can talk to Iclone about using relative path to find the installation directory or ask Bigboss. He answers his mail.
BTW new guys, I LOOOOOOVEE the new stuff so I don't mind waiting for it to work properly

I can't get tessellation to work -
I still cannot get Skytool or Speed tree to work as advertised.
1. Speed Tree does not allow a way to animate the "Change seasons"
2. SpeedTree technology is supposed to have "Animate Growth" Iclone did not mention this but this is supposed to be SpeedTree technology.
3. SkyTool. I think I see some cloud density moving but star density and sun moon rotation seems to be missing. The Facecam billboard for the moon does not even have a picture of the moon.

Hi Mark,

It renders just a bit off. The sync never was correct to begin with. I have noticed that the render can be better than the preview as it is rendering frame by frame. I did a test one time because the cloth was tearing in the skirt as Heidi walked. In the final render there was no issue.

I have been scouring the YouTube videos and just discovered in an iClone5.4 tutorial on advanced facial animation that if you hit the "enter" key instead of the space bar, the play back is at half speed. That could be a big step forward if it is still in version 6.

I'm being facetious here in some of my comments because the constant updates is just putting a band aide on a Horse with a festering wound that needs time to be healed properly before sending it out to the races.

The Effects Slider and Spinner has unexpected results on this slider as well as a few others throughout the GUI.. (Video Shown Here)

For all the additional strengths added to iClone6, it's the simple crap that's killing it when it comes to user interface.

Why must something be broken to fix another area? ... is the question I keep asking myself.

The Bone Opacity Slider, for instance, was working in the 1st release as expected, where I could roll it up one click and have the opacity go to ZERO, and now it is broken again in the latest 6.2 update... I mean, who needs giant bones to select body parts when a figure diagram to choose the bones is opened anyway when doing Motion Layer edits? Whatever happened to simple logic?

The retention of presets for viewing content when opening iClone such as, by Date Modified, was working in the original release, and now it is no longer functioning. I am working on something "Today", so that is the order I prefer my library to be retained in when I close and reopen iClone, not by name!!!

Now every time I open iClone6, I have to once again, as in iClone5, reset the order of things so I don't have to search for the latest items.

The search function as explained below is also broken.

The redundant listing of the items in two columns is totally unnecessary, and makes no sense of finding items. Why do I need two listings of the same directories? Give me the old listing setup any day, at least it worked.

The search feature for one, should retain the "SEARCH" text desired without having to key it in at every (redundant) directory or library change, even if it is only during each session, which it does not. You have to either copy the text to the clipboard and paste it again and again when searching, which seems a bit disorganized.

Why not just a Single Root and Sub-directory search for either Default or Custom items with a listing that pops up and says "Oh here it is" Click on the item desired? It could be added as a tab perhaps..

How about we fix everything without breaking other working parts, then release it?

Measure twice - cut once. I learned that little lesson in Wood Shop and it still applies.

Another Lesson was: "If you have time to do it twice, you had time to do it right the 1st time".

In this post: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost225689.aspx, a user reports problems with stereoscopic output.

What it amounts to is that only half of the timeline gets rendered (even with all frames selected). So if you have a total of 10 seconds, only the first 5 a rendered.

When I tested this, I rendered to MP4, and found that the length of the clip is as expected, but the second half is just a frozen frame.

However, when I repeated the test with image sequences, it turned out that all frames were rendered. So it seems to occur only when rendering to a video file.

- loading *.spx removes lPectoral and rPectoral (now Chest), its no longer possible to switched on or off lPectoral and rPectoral individually (I know that it was in IC5.xx same way, but it is a pity...)

- Press Play / Stop in the main window will update the timeline window and displays the current position of the playhead. When you manually move the slider in the main window the timeline window is not updated to the current position of the playhead.

- Detachable PLAY/STOP timeline slider from the main window to get a larger image (would like to dock it on the 2nd or 3rd monitor ...)

- Manually move the Play / Stop slider in the main window should make the sound and voice audible for exact adjustment.

There is a problem in stereo 3d output

When I use stereo 3d render (anaglyph/side by side/above below or dual stream) the problem is rendering only 50% of shot length

For Example


Timeline is 500 frames (30fps)
when I export in normal without using stereo 3d its render 250 of 250 its perfect

But when I use stereo 3d output its renders 125 of 250 exporting 50% of shot length

Please go through yourself and please reply soon,

know one responding properly for this issue please help us to fix the issue

Hello, for me the exporting of duplicated textures resulting in gigabytes of duplicate files is a bug :D

Iclone+Indigo+speedtree is a very powerful weapon replacing my need for Lumion 3D=$$.
You will have attract a new market with this combo.

But it needs to fixed because exporting process itself takes a very long time from Iclone.

I have played around again with the sync drift. I went back to this because I saw in an iClone5 tutorial Kai showing how the audio play back could be slowed down by using the enter key instead of the space bar.

Well that function is no longer in iClone6. Why did it go away? I hope it was because a new audio scrubber will replace it. :-)

I also noticed that the drift only seems to happen when playback mode has "By Frame" selected. If I switch that mode to "Realtime" than no audio slip is detected. I have been running a loop on this play back just to see if I am observing things correctly, and I think I am.

This is actually something I would consider a "functional" bug that goes back to version 4 (probably earlier).

The issue is with the automatic alignment of the "root" to the avatar's animation. It does a fantastic job of aligning the root with the avatar's pelvis, but it only aligns position. It seems like it really should align rotation as well. It would sure make transitioning between mocap motions and persona based motions work more smoothly.

If the pelvis is tracked and the root set to it's position for every frame, why was the rotation left out?

Here's the bug in Iclone indigo for speedtree. The only workaround that works sometimes is to turn on/off the layer of the trees in a preview not the camview. Hope this gets fixed.

This may just be my system but....when I turned off the GIZMO, which is a lot of the time, in iC5 the mouse cursor would change to reflect the gizmo "state" (Move,Rotate, Scale). Now in iC6 the "state" of the gizmo is only know when I hover over the selected object and many times the object is not in view on viewport/stage. I have to get the object in the field of view, hover over it and then I know what the cursor will be doing...I find this annoying especially with lights and it really slows down my work methodology ..maybe it's just me but this is yet another thing I would like returned to the way it was in iC5 ;)

May have been mentioned but you can on longer use the "ALT" key to adjust the viewport/stage as you are creating a Path. Very difficult to lay out an animation path when you can't adjust the screen to see where you want to continue placing a path node.

1. The height and vector displacement props in the tessellation bonus projects are flat from the beginning and do not respond to the sliders (tessellation level and multiplier). I tried adjusting them on all channels. Nothing!!!

I tried making a custom box and nothing works. I have been trying periodically for 2 months and I thought it must be a bug that needs fixing but I am not sure. now. Do I need to activate something?
I keep asking about the tools that are not working and I get no response in the forum.

Check under program preferences. I don't have iClone in front of me, but there is a setting related to tessellation.

Thank you so much Animagic I can't believe that this was not part of the tutorial or mentioned ANYWHERE. I kept asking and had NO response.
Neither substance nor tessellation would work and I kept mentioning it but had NO response until you.
I only checked the default projects and the objects are now appearing in 3 D.

Here is the scoop.
1. There is "Project Settings" and "Preference. Look under the "Edit" menu option.
In "Preferences" under "Real-Time Render Options" I checked
"displacement map," Substance" and "Bump/Normal Map"
will now try to create my own objects and update this.
If you sell anything I will buy something.

For this reason I did not buy the "Substance" because I could not see HOW it would work and I wondered if I needed to buy a plug-in to make it work. And there was NO and still is NO response from an apparently overworked staff.
SO IF TESELLATION AND SUBSTANCE DON"T WORK There is a button to turn on the features.
Maybe my Skytool and speed tree mysteries will now be solved.

I finally checked custom tessellation and it worked also.

This appears to be more related to Indigo, but there doesn't seem to be a thread dedicated to Indigo errors and iClone is involved, so I'll post it here.

It appears Indigo does not understand different tiling for an Opacity Map and Diffuse and thinks they should match.

This one is directly related to the "J" shortcut key in iClone 6. The "J" key is supposed to be the "FACE" key.

In iClone5 no matter if you were on a character's accessory or not, the "J" key would take you to the Face, now you have to select the Root Node of the character or the "J" key does not work.

There is no other assignment for the "J" key as a shortcut, so regardless of what part I have selected on a character, it should do as before, and select the face.

I'd like to see this particular action on the time line in iClone6 to Mimic the same process it did in iClone5. It makes it easier to make connections and transitions from one motion to the next when the Tab or Shift Tab keys access the beginning and the end of each clip, not just the beginning of a motion clip..

The "Water Type" Props are looking for their Perform animations as .VNS files in the iAnimation subfolder. Iclone 6 does not use VNS files so this might be an embedded leftover in the water types

That, my friend, is a favorite newbie question.

While editing, iClone displays 60fps on the timeline, which is its internal heartbeat.  So one second is 60 frames according to iClone.

However, when exporting, it exports at 30fps.

You still get 1 second of footage, but only 30 frames.

So the TIME is the same, but the FRAME COUNT is half.

I noticed the old "Flex Cloth" props are still included with iC6. Just trying to find the old "Flex Setting" menu to adjust them but can't seem to find it..is it there?

Not a big deal I guess with the new cloth capabilities but why include it if the adjustment menu isn't available...or am I just missing where it's located? :D

There is a bug when exporting a clip in WMV in iCl6 - Ausage.
It affects the sound during audio quality setting 1,2,7,8 is the audio output
available and when hiring 3,4,5,6 it does not exist.
When rendering a clip in WMV format with the audio settings 3,4,5,6
you do not get when playing in several players, only the image, but the tone.
IN IC 6 is the tone in place and will play
With the audio quality setting 1,2,7,8 it works.

This is an Iclone issue that carried over to indigo.

Disappearing shadows from speedtree in Iclone. So when exported to indigo, it would render it like Iclone, disappearing shadows.:D

You still get 1 second of footage, but only 30 frames.

So the TIME is the same, but the FRAME COUNT is half.


1) If it renders at 30 FPS, can't it DISPLAY 30 FPS instead of 60 ? If it can calculate for the Rendering , it can also calculate for the DISPLAY ! This could remove the confusion once for all.

2) If it's so TIME accurate, then shouldn't it allow setup a Project based on TIME rather than FRAMES or PART SEGMENT RENDERING based on the TIME ?

Unnecessary confusion.

A small anecdote :

My wife decided to have different time settings for the wall clocks in Kitchen, Bedroom and Living room for some weird TIME MANAGEMENT reasons because in early morning she had to get the children ready for the school. One Clock would be 5 minutes ahead and the other one 8 minutes ahead.

But half the time time while rushing for things from one room to another, she would pause a minute, think which room she was in and weather the clock was 5 minutes or 8 minutes ahead to console herself that she was still within the time frame and the children wouldn't miss the school bus!

So much for the Time management.

I'm not supporting iClone's behavior.  I was merely trying to explain it.

I have worked quite a bit with NLE software, testing a variety of video sources, including both NTSC and PAL.  I remember a huge fuss when the software ran a 30fps rather than 29.97fps.  Even that 1% difference was a big deal, because either see a stutter in your film every 100 seconds you'd or your sync would drift off.

This is one of those thing (to me) where I don't really care how it is done under the covers, but as a user I'd like to "see" a specific frame rate when I work; either "30" fps or 60 fps, or even 24fps if I want to mimic film rates.  And I should be able to change my mind in how I *display* it on the timeline if I want to.  And I should be able to render to any of those framerates, regardless of what I used while editing.

I've posted passionately about this multiple times.  It's not a show-stopper for me.  But it should be better.  It's one of those things and almost *every* user encounters, usually resulting in confusion and even frustration.

Not to be picky, but that's only a 0.1% difference. A 1% difference would be quite problematic indeed.

(No, I don't actually own a slide rule.  But I did learn how to multiply and divide on one once, as a novelty.)

It wasn't until several months ago that I bothered to learn WHY it is such an odd value.  Our electricity here is 60Hz, so why not use a simple "half" value of 30fps?  In essence, it had to do with compatibility between B&W and Color systems.  From Wikipedia, the knower-of-all:

The NTSC field refresh frequency in the black-and-white system originally exactly matched the nominal 60 Hz frequency of alternating current power used in the United States. Matching the field refresh rate to the power source avoided intermodulation (also called beating), which produces rolling bars on the screen. When color was added to the system, the refresh frequency was shifted slightly downward to 59.94 Hz to eliminate stationary dot patterns in the difference frequency between the sound and color carriers, as explained below in "Color encoding". Synchronization of the refresh rate to the power incidentally helped kinescope cameras record early live television broadcasts, as it was very simple to synchronize a film camera to capture one frame of video on each film frame by using the alternating current frequency to set the speed of the synchronous AC motor-drive camera. By the time the frame rate changed to 29.97 Hz for color, it was nearly as easy to trigger the camera shutter from the video signal itself.

Sometimes this is the down-side of being on the cutting edge of technology.  Then later another country (or company) starts fresh using the lessons-learned, but makes it less of a Frankenstein system.

Here is a new comment, though I am sure it really is not new. I can't believe that every time I open iClone6 I have to resize my left and right tool bars. They always open as a default width. Please, can we get this fixed so it remembers the user's preference? It's not a show stopper I know. It's just annoying, especially if the program crashes a few times during a working session.

With regards to the fps issue in Iclone.
There's a disconnect between the internal fps and the viewport/render playback rate of Iclone.
Only solution imo is to lock these two to the same fps and allow custom fps. :D

Without fixing this there would always be skipped frames in Iclone when rendering and using the timeline as keyframe reference is not ideal. Frames in the timeline will never be the actual frames in your render.

Very serious issue: Collision Profile is not saved anymore. That makes the whole supersoftcloth feature nearly senseless. Please repair that as fast as possible. Apparently this feature had been destroyed by the last patch. Well, you apparently reprogrammed the whole iClone, a lot of features are now gone and only one single Dazzie makes iClone sluggish. Very bad! But why all starts all over again, too? Anything is repaired and other features are destroyed. And again we have to wait for the next patch of a patch. I thought, the reprogramming and losing of a lot of important features of v5 was done to eliminate the code-chaos of iClone. Apparently not. Seems like, you have to change something additional in the "programming-pipeline". If I would be you, I would take the v5-core and just make a physX plugin. And most of your problems should be gone. At moment you got a "whole new" v6-core with v5 / bullet-plugin, problems without end and a core/engine that handles Dazzies and other highpoly content worse than v5. Perhaps it´s time to rethink some things. Else you may face the same "horror" as before, but got more problems and issues than ever before!

SKYTOOL MOON
The Moon phase in the free Skytool projects work.
However, the moon in the skytool prop is just a billboard with no image and no changes of phase.
Somehow turning on substance makes the phase changes work - I think.
Should be a simple fix for the next version

MISSING ASSETS PURCHASED FROM THE MARKETPLACE
This is a problem since we only have access to items bought within the last year.
I transferred my Iclone 5 Items to my new computer because the option to reinstall does not exist when one is limited to only getting the last 12 months.
I think it started happening since 6.02 but I am not sure.
I try to find an item and it is gone. It is on my saved disk but not on my new computer.
It has happened with purchased and free items.
We need access to the old purchases in the Marketplace.

The earliest you can go is 1/1/2008. Adjust the period and then click Search.

I found a problem with the Grid settings in the Preference window: if I manually enter a value in the Grid Spacing control, the displayed grid spacing does not change.
Even pressing ENTER it does not change.
The only way to change it is to scale it by +1 or -1 with the small arrows near the Grid Spacing control.

not sure if this has been mentioned, but once you use a substance texture on a g3-5 cloth, it is impossible to go back to using regular textures, even if you delete the substance. Something gets switched off and saved with the character - the "strength" "UV offsets" "UV settings" everything in that section gets permanently disabled.

Actually, many of us would prefer to see it go away, and just give us executable installation packets that we can download.

Recently trying to install the "Substance 200" pack, I ran into a missing DLL problem.  The installer should handle problems like this more gracefully.

  • "This installation requires Microsoft C++ library blah blah blah, would you like to install it now?"

UPDATE (March 18).
I tried again. This time it worked but I have to make sure I change the year (a given).
However, I have to actually click on the day of the month and not accept the current value highlighted as default otherwise it will not be changed in the date ranges even if I change the year.

To express my thanks I think I will write another set of pitfall advice for Newbies - of which I am chief because ICLONE doesn't really do a wonderful job of telling non-professionals what it has to offer. It could be because all the experts/professionals assume a lot of things are just given.
Thanks for all of you who noticed that Avatar cloth settings/Avatar collision settings have been affected since the last update I thought it was just me.
Neither worked before but this time, doing both worked.
However still keep finding missing assets that I have to redownload.

Error Adding Prop To Avatar.
When I add a prop to a general area and I go back and specify which specific bone, the item is duplicated in the Scene Manager list of subprops.
The workaround is to Save the item exit Iclone and start again. The item is saved correctly. and the duplicated entry disappears keeping the last change.
It is just annoying at first.

We need a list of open issues, because I believe this one was reported, but I'm not sure...:unsure:

Anyway, my problem is that I have a project with multiple dialog tracks, but some of them are muted on preview. The lip-synching is working and the rendered output has all the speech in it. If I start deleting tracks that I can currently hear, then others become audible. It is as if there is a maximum number of tracks.

Peter or Soya: you will find this issue in the file I sent the link of yesterday.

This is more of an inconvenience than a serious bug:

As you can see, the timestamp of the file TW_S01_3e.iProject in the Content Manager is different from the timestamp in Windows Explorer. I had just saved the file by overwriting, but the timestamp is not updated.

This is confusing, especially if you keep multiple versions of a project and want to know what the newest is. It doesn't help to leave the folder in the Content Manager and then return to it; the timestamp doesn't get updated.

when I use the sky tool, and close the window to regain screen space,.....every time i undo, it comes back, no matter what i was doing ....i could have closed the sky tool window like 20 moves ago, if I hit undo, it pops back up on main view screen. it can get annoying considering how easy it is to clutter up the screen with various panels open ie: the timeline and motion panel.

-I used "drag-and-drop" to put a 1 minute .wav file into a project, it showed up in the timeline and played fine.
-After adding 3 image planes to the scene, the sound glitched out and started playing back as loud static (it was fine after the first two planes, the third one crashed it).
-I deleted the sound from the timeline, but kept hearing very quiet static every time I played back after that.
-I tried re-importing the sound file, but it was back to loud static, and didn't show up in the timeline anymore. The only way I could stop it was turning sound volume down to 0 in project settings. After that, there was still soft static.

I'm rendering it out now to see if there's still noise on the rendered video.

Motion Puppet: when I apply it after (in the timeline) some other animation, the character arms, even if masked out in the motion puppet, default to a pre-determined position (depending on the baseline animation chosen for the motion puppet). This is a kind of problem if the previous animation clip ended with a very different arm position.

As a general rule, I think that if a part of the body is masked out in the motion puppet, then the body part should maintain the last position from the previous clip.

I had a similar problem with static noise. I had a scene with dialog and a WVM video on a projection screen (plane). The dialog was fine but the sound of the video was all static. So something is wrong with the sound.

I have several G5 characters for which I have created new faces in iClone 6. I really like those faces as they look better in my opinion.

However, I have discovered a problem when the character speaks: the teeth don't show correctly (they seem almost hidden). The regular standard G5 characters don't have that issue.

I discovered a workaround: when the Facial Features dialog is open while the character speaks, the teeth show, although still not quite correctly. The tongue animation seems to be gone as well.

The following clip shows the problem and the effect of the workaround. The character on the left, Gwynn, serves as reference. The character on the right received a new face in IC6 and has the problem.

Hopefully this can be fixed for 6.1...:P

Here is an image showing the problem. The listing "HIDES" bones that are assembled inline, and they cannot be selected because they scroll off the list as you move down. The window needs expansion ability.

Well I tried to confirm your findings Job...but I can't. Every time I try to reopen the path-test-project I made in iClone6 it crashes on that project!!!:w00t: I swear iC6 is wearin' me out!:w00t:

Here is another issue to be aware of:

When you try to save a project under a new name or try to save a new project, the default name "Project" that is provided is not globally updated when you change it in the Content Manager.

The name in the Content Manager is changed, but the name in the iClone title bar is still "Project". Also, if you do a save, it saves it to a file named "Project", which will then appear in the Content Manager, not to the new file name. Only if you select the new file name and overwrite it with your project will the file name be permanently updated and show correctly in the title bar.

What concerns me is that these are fairly basic problems that should have been caught in testing. I don't mind reporting them, but who knows what I've missed...:unsure:

Hi RL,

here is a little thing that should be fixed: when the transition at the beginning of an animation clip is extended and then the animation clip is split, the transition defaults back to the standard length (i.e. it does not retain the user- adjusted length)

I have noticed that spotlights in iClone 6 do not cast a shadow when they are pointed STRAIGHT DOWN (i.e., each X,Y, and Z rotations = 0). However, if you change the X rotation value to anything OTHER than 0, then the shadow will pop-in.

Gee wiz Peter.. this is getting depressing.. waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting.. so tell me Peter.. with the G6 character.. will they be standard types? so one can change faces and such? will one be able to say.. do morphing within the time line? like stretch a finger out to poke another character in the eye? animate it in the time line. if you understand what I'm saying. would be nice to get some kind of clue as to what one can expect.. cause july is a long way away... or will it be at the end of the 3rd quarter? :w00t:

What seems to be important as the software implementation, it is mainly to change character faces IC6.

I believe I saw this reported as an error recently. This came to mind when doing this. I think whomever encoded this error was actually thinking ahead, so Kudos to them.

Some may consider this a problem, but I consider it one of the features that actually produces a Smart Error worth Noting for future encounters.

With Soft Cloth having the ability to turn on or off, this ensures that recordings you already have will not get overwritten down the timeline. It also allows you to apply multiple Soft cloth settings at various points with adjusted Wind parameters for scene needs as the scene may require at different points.

Hi,

one tiny defect that would be nice to be fixed.

Scenario: an asset is linked/attached to something and the link/attach "Align" has been chosen to follow the position or position&rotation.

Defect: if the link/attach property window (the one selected by pressing the three dots "...") is opened again, the "Align" does not show the previous selection, i.e. it defaults to "None".
The Align property is kept but not shown.

Camera Indicator names are either reversed or poorly named. When I hover over a Lock that shows as "Unlocked" it should show either the Word "Lock" to change it to a locked setting or "Unlocked" if indicating the status.

|BUG| Saving Collisions to a file does nothing / overwrite an existing file delete this file.

The "saved" files are not traceable and lost.:angry:

(As a workaround until the next patch: Save the avatar includes the collision just created.)

In Preference -> Level of Detail Options -> UnCheck it
----> Not memorized after restart IC.
Level of Detail remain checked after iClone restart!!

Here is a problem that a member discovered with 5-pinned cloth, which has 4 corner pins and 1 center pin.

According to the iClone 6 Help, you can delete the corner pins and then simulate a cloth that is held in the center, while the corners fall down. However, this is not what happens. After removing the corner pins, the cloth still behaves as pinned at the corners.

I was able to repeat this, following the instructions in the Help.

EDIT: As was pointed out by rampa, this does work with Bullet physics, but since the physics type cannot be set per object that is not really a viable solution. The iClone 6 Help mentions the pinned cloth as one type of Soft Cloth but does not state that it only work for Bullet physics.

Should now work correctly with the iClone 6.03 update. :)

I'm being facetious here in some of my comments because the constant updates is just putting a band aide on a Horse with a festering wound that needs time to be healed properly before sending it out to the races.

The Effects Slider and Spinner has unexpected results on this slider as well as a few others throughout the GUI.. (Video Shown Here)

For all the additional strengths added to iClone6, it's the simple crap that's killing it when it comes to user interface.

Why must something be broken to fix another area? ... is the question I keep asking myself.

The Bone Opacity Slider, for instance, was working in the 1st release as expected, where I could roll it up one click and have the opacity go to ZERO, and now it is broken again in the latest 6.2 update... I mean, who needs giant bones to select body parts when a figure diagram to choose the bones is opened anyway when doing Motion Layer edits? Whatever happened to simple logic?

The retention of presets for viewing content when opening iClone such as, by Date Modified, was working in the original release, and now it is no longer functioning. I am working on something "Today", so that is the order I prefer my library to be retained in when I close and reopen iClone, not by name!!!

Fixed in iClone 6.03. :)

Here's the bug in Iclone indigo for speedtree. The only workaround that works sometimes is to turn on/off the layer of the trees in a preview not the camview. Hope this gets fixed.

Should be working correctly after the iClone 6.03 update. :)

Same request I had (with numerous +1's) when 6.01 and 6.02 were released...

When you start the "Official 6.03 Issues Thread," please list both the fixes (as done before) AND the KNOWN REPORTED ISSUES that will still exist in 6.03.

That will save us the trouble of re-testing, re-banging our heads into, and re-reporting things you already know about.

I know that this is not easy, because I guess, that this is a problem of the reprogrammed "core". I hope that you fix that, because it has thrown back iClone back in time - nearly to its beginnings. And it is really paradox! On the one hand you try to give iClone suddenly a best quality graphics output with Indigo and on the other hand you make it suddenly really difficult to handle highpoly content. The problem: Without highpoly content, it is impossible to get best graphics output. Lowpoly content in Indigo only looks ugly!
2. You took away a bunch of v5 features, including the 2nd (better) facials. Do you plan to bring them back ? The 2nd facials at least ? Facials are very important, if you want to produce high quality animation clips. Facials are the biggest advantage of iClone against every other realtime animation software!
3. v6 has errors in really every part. The reprogramming of the core resulted nearly only in a bug desaster with (v5 needlessly totally changed) ugly interface. Often random and difficult to replicate. Don´t you think, it is time to think about a new old v5 core with a softcloth plugin? Any other feature of v6 doesn´t really matter!
What would be, if you sell again v5 and additional as plugin the softcloth and Indigo ? I think, a lot of people would buy that. Especially new customer. Older would take the plugins and would be able to work as well as before - but with new features while you got the time to reprogram v6 to a worthy successor of the best animator ever - v5. :D

At moment we got an unbelievable buggy v6 with v5 plugin, that has thrown iClone back into the child's shoes. So it would be logical, to take the old well working v5 and add v6 plugins. That would take away all major childhood diseases and we could work again with highpoly content. Btw.: v6 makes suddenly problems with mp4s. It can´t load it or doesn´t animate them (if you take the working material of v5). v5 takes them without any problems!

I agree Soft Cloth and Hair truly add values to ICLONE5.
This could be really an attraction for many people. They can work on their old systems. The Total Cost of Ownership will still remain low thus ensuring a happy state of mind for many.

And ICLONE 6 will get a breather for self-correction and self-healing.

Well as it is planned to be fixed in 6.1 I'm guessing the cause of the problem is known. ;)

Unfortunately the plans are not finalized so I can't really reveal anything specific yet. Generally speaking the G6 characters will remain one piece like Daz characters, but we will add additional tools to allow customizing these characters and add custom faces. In addition there will be G6 CloneCloth for creating custom clothing.

What is the "mega problem" you mention? Daz characters work fine in iClone 6 as long as you have a system that meets the recommended specifications. Sure you can't put a dozens of them in your scenes but one or two should play nice. Please can you elaborate on this "mega problem" a bit more. Thanks.

Again you mention mega problems, errors in every part, but don't really explain what the problems are. I guess we are both using the same software but I don't see all these mega problems that you are experiencing. You will need to explain in more detail so we can try and help you. Making bold claims without backing it up with detail doesn't help anyone.

would it be possible to upgrade the Physic Toolbox to be compatible with IC6 PhysX technology ?
I do not want to be the spokesman for all the ppl who bought t, but I am 100% sure they would quite appreciate to be able to use it again for IC6.
I know we can bake the physic animation in IC5 and import in IC6 but that's almost useless if the physic animation shall be tailored specifically for a scene within a project developed in IC6.

I looked at your screen capture and I think your problem is that the texture is linked (it is an external texture).

This is an option when exporting from 3DXchange. Make sure that "Embed External Textures" is selected. This will make the textures part of the file you export. You should now be able to edit your weight map.

Ok, I understand. Well let´s make a short list of mega problems we got with v6:
1. The biggest problem is now highpoly content like Daz and content with thousands up to 1 million and more polys:
v5 worked smoothly and without problems with Dazzies and 1 mio+ poly content was no fun, but v5 was able to handle it. I mean, you were able to edit the content fast and "fly araound" fast.
Rendering was fast, too. Projects that use physics, too!
In v6 this is fun is over! Just one Dazzie makes iClone suddenly sluggish. Fly around, edit and so on is no fun anymore. About 4 Dazzies are nearly not editable anymore. Sluggish nearly to death! 1 million poly content is only a torture to edit!
That´s the biggest mega problem! And this mega problem waged to the next mega problem: Inside the project only one Dazzie with activated super soft cloth, animated textures and dancing in in the "Vulcanic Rock" 3d scene: Suddenly the rendering time was absurd long! It was so bad, v6 sucked so much power, that it nearly made every other working on the pc impossible! In v5 projects using physics were no problem! If you can´t fix this mega problem, I will really have to render on an other machine. At moment I have to choose between working on the machine or rendering on it. With v5 this all was no problem! The core of v6 has a big problem.

2. v5 had to kinds of facials. Left and right. Now we got only one kind of facials. The remained facials are worse.

3. Errors everywhere and you asked me where. Fancy! Do you read your forum ? Every, really every patch results in mega threads of error reports! Anyway, here a very, very short list of errors and lost features:
Mirrors don´t work anymore, 2nd facials gone, popvideo gone, director mode gone, crash if you open directly a super soft cloth project (if you open first a v6 project and then the cloth project, it works), transferring of collision shape doesn´t work anymore (fix soon), various problems with opacity and shadows (forum) - often randomly, endless problems with Indigo (forum), sometimes collision shape doesn´t work and you need additional kinematic props to do the job, directx9 has problems with opacity - working with super soft cloth is impossible because the results look ugly, ugly interface that hate a lot of customers (with the old was nothing wrong - nothing!), various problems with the video export (forum), and on and on and on. And the next patch will result in more problems and new problems and - I bet - in new evolved problems because of the new patch.

4. That you don´t want to go back, is sad. That will be expensive! You will have to monkey around with all the problems, that you have already solved with v5 and get new problems with old content and new features and patches that destroy any part of the program and so on. All over again and again. Are you really sure, that is the best idea and way? What´s about a really complete change? Throw overboard the reprogrammed, buggy v6 core, take the actually very cheap Cryengine and code around your interfaces. That would mean automatically best graphics, too! Water, fluids, particels, physics, super soft cloth - everything is the best of the best! Take a look on the engine!

I looked at your screen capture and I think your problem is that the texture is linked (it is an external texture).

Thisis an option when exporting from 3DXchange. Make sure that "Embed External Textures" is selected. This will make the textures part of thefile you export. You should now be able to edit your weight map.

I will pass to RL, but in the meanwhile I give the "wonderful" opportunity to any volunteer to confirm the problem by trying these simple steps:

1. New project
2. Add Mason
3. Add a Ball (3D Blocks -> Ball_001)
4. Attach the ball to Mason
5. Open the Attach to sub-node window ( three dots "...") and select the Pelvis as the bone to be attached
6. Add a Ball (3D Blocks -> Ball_001) again
7. Attach it to Mason
8. Open the Attach to sub-node window ( three dots "...") and select the BoneRoot as the bone to be attached

Now, you should see in the Scene window that one of the balls appears 2 time in the list of assets attached to Mason

Sure enough! "Boneroot" or "RootNode" both do this. If you go back and forth linking the same object between the two, you can get many duplicate names. Deleting the object will only delete the original name from the scene manager. Selecting a duplicate name after the object is deleted results in a crash (no surprise there).

@prabhatM: That is right. Microsoft never went back to any old system. But: They killed f.e. vista very, very fast. Why? It was too buggy, too shitty and big customers hated it. Well. So v6 should be killed. The core is too bad "re-coded" to be useable for super graphics. It can´t really handle highpoly content. That is like Windows 10 would be unable to play HD content - or only very bad. Would be absurd, or? This would be the instant-death of W10, or? For sure! v6 should lead iClone into a new and shiny future with super graphics with Indigo. Guess it was planned to give "big players" a "reason" to take iClone serious. This plan failed. Instead iClone had been thrown back into the child's shoes with error over bug and problem in too many parts of it. And additional all highpoly content is a problem for v6. And if you want to render something with super soft cloth, animation and atmosphere, the rendertime is near to f.e. Maya - but with much worse result. Well. So there are now two options, to solve this mess: 1. Kill v6 and go to v7 that is v5 with plugins. Similar to Microsoft (w7 was very stable and works very well).
2. Code some interfaces, automate the prop-conversion, code the inengine videomaking and go Cryengine. This would be the best solution. We would get all that we had got and additional physically water simulated by an engine, that needs less power than v6 and delivers better results than nearly every other engine on the market.
3. Btw.: v6 has sometimes problems with springs of avatars. Difficult to reproduce. They just don´t work, but technically should.

I can tell you're upset, and I can see why.  I thank you for taking the time to provide a mature and useful response.  It was a good summary.  (I'm *not* being sarcastic; I'm being sincere.)

I, too, wish things would get fixed faster.  There is a reason we were using iClone 5.5, rather than 5.0 or even 5.3.  It is difficult to be patient (I really thought 6.1 would be out by now), but I trust we'll see iC6 continue to improve.  Until then, we hold their feet to the fire and do our little part to help define priorities.

Imagine were we might be by the time we see 6.3 or 6.4!

Heavy bug in the particle part! F.e. "Hell Fire" can´t be setted to an other amount. That makes the particle part broken. "Emit volume" seems to be broken. In v5 it works totally ok! And even if I transfer a v5 project to v6, "Emit volume" suddenly stops to be changeable - it is automatically resetted. How did you manage to destroy the particle settings?

Sure, all we can do is sit and wait - and hope that the next patch repairs more, than it destroys. v6 is too buggy to repair. It is totally new coded and has errors and bugs really, really everywhere, where you want to work. I want to use the super soft cloth and get all kinds of problems and have to invest a lot of time, to find work arounds. Or it is just buggy and there is no workaround. Or I want to edit some particles: They are totally broken! Inside a new software! And so on! And I see no end of these troubles. Because of that I would say, that RL should run to the next version, that is a v5 with v6 plugins. Else these (for RL) expensive troubles will go on and on. Remember the "collision shape troubles" from the beginnings. A patch changed it as we wanted and the "collision shape" saving is now totally broken and will be fixed with the next patch. Learn from Microsoft. Vista was an epic fail - v7 was a winner.

When saving a motion, if the character's transform includes a rotation, when a new character acquires the motion the character rotates but its transform rotation value still reads zero.

When saving a motion, if the character's transform includes a rotation, when a new character acquires the motion the character rotates but its transform rotation value still reads zero.

Hi,

this is a problem existing already in IC5.
I tried all the possible attempts but I could never be able to bake the transform rotation (Actor Root) so that it really follows the character orientation (Motion Root).
This is quite inconvenient because it is not possible to patch and save an animation so that in the new one the Actor Root correctly follows the Motion Root.
I already posted a ticket to RL several weeks ago about this.
I hope they will fix it!

Why not repaired in V6.03 ??? It worked in V5.xx, and V6.xx is useless for me if I can`t change the proportions without losing the springs. And I'm just tired to export from 3dxc to IC5, there to change the proportions, then save, open in IC6 ... and more until it fits ...
I am now very angry and will not use Iclone after 6.03 fix until next time.

- Press Play / Stop in the main window will update the timeline window and displays the current position of the playhead. When you manually move the slider in the main window the timeline window is not updated to the current position of the playhead.

For now you can click the ʺCurrent Frameʺ button on the Timeline. That will move the timeline to the current frame. However we will try to improve this feature in a future update.

I have a problem with working on a project that I have created in IC6 and the characters are based on Jimmy Toon.
When I start to animate Jimmy Toon Iclone crashes. Any way to fix it. I tried in two different PC and the same happens.

Does Iclone 6 have a problem with Jimmy Toon. With G6 characters animation is fine in the same project.

I really like visuals of IC6 and do not want to go back to IC5.

Any help.

I have a feeling folks will need to know more about the specific project you are creating..like how large it is. And maybe the different PC systems configuration/specs ?? ;)

Sorry you're right.
Laptop Hp Envy DV6 with Nvidia 630M I7 8 GB ram and SSD 180 GB Intel.

The project is quite large at 480 MB. It based on Domicil objects and has a lot of speedtree trees plus some sketchup objects with medium complexity.

I try to animate on path but it crashes.

If I open the same file on the laptop that I managed to make it work on PC and has some animation on path it cannot load and crashes as soon as project appears on screen.

Also on my PC Acer predator G3 SSD 60 gb + 2 tb hdd Nvidia GTX 760 1,5Gb and I7 with 16Gb ram it crashes some times but when I restore I can continue to work.

There's a fundamental problem with spring bones if a female character is on a fast moving train for example her hair and boobs are in the next wagon flopping in the caboose! :D

I know I can turn them off or fake it with a moving background but I wish bones had directional constraints so you can at least just turn off by X Y or Z directions.

This has been a long-standing problem already present in iClone 5.

I like your idea of adjusting/turning off the effect by direction.

iClone 6.03 has now been officially released.
