hi,
i have an issue here,


when i am opening an i clone 4 file in i clone 5,i m getting an error message "iClone.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and my i clone is getting closed.can you help me by saying why this thing was happening ?

What type of file is it? Is it a Project, Avatar, Prop? Please explain a little more.

It is an iclone 4 pro project file.when i am opening it it just showed the error message and closing.

On the same machine when I use iclone4 to open a project file x, it works. But when I try to open the project file x using iclone5 on that same machine, the software crashes. So it is not a hardware problem, eh?

what you could do is load your project in Iclone 4 save it as a copy then work on the copy .. then start deleting aspects of your project ... particles,props animations,bit by bit then save out and load into Iclone 5 this way you can find out what the problem is and you keep your original project so when you do know what it is you can just delete that from your project ...

If you navigate to your iClone 4.0 Project file (on my PC running Windows 7.0 this is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 4 Custom\Project\ ) 

Copy and paste one or all of your custom projects and just pop it in your iClone 5.0 Custom Projects folder  (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 5 Custom\Project)

You can then open it from within iClone 5.0.

I've tried the old method of right clicking and open with iClone 5.0 but this doesn't work for me now.

Thanks Blue. I am not sure, but it looks to me that all my iClone4 projects that have a terrain are not opening up in iClone5. Because I am curious to work on iClone5, am happy to do this for a project or two - but I am hoping there would be a better solution.

Also apologies for having created this separate thread, I should have posted in the iClone Issues thread. I have now posted one there - and would delete this one if possible.
