I am more into caricature type people and bodies, from the picture it seems I can animate and make cloths and caricatures of people I know like in Crazy Animator.

I have iClone 4 pro already ,is there an advantage to getting this to make cartoon caricatures of people I know or can I do all of this with what I have already?

I am trying to buy some things and  spend the rest on Da points to get iClone 5 but just wanted to know if this was worth it for my needs.

Thanks Tim

Tim, I am a bit confused by your reference to real people that you know at the same time as Crazy Talk Animator, since your actual question is about iClone.

I am writing because I share your interest in what you call caricature figures. I call them stylized figures. None of the major animation studios use the kind of human figures that are the standard embedded avatars in iClone, such as Violet, Trey, or Kane--instead, they all use stylized characters. For instance, Pixar used characters more like Reallusion's "Mr. Slim" in "The Incredibles."

You can replace the blank head shapes of Mr Pose and Mr Slim with human heads from the other iClone avatars, and then use iClone's Face Fitting to make the desired likeness.

I have been customizing iClone avatars for many years now while chasing the dream of making my animated short, and I feel that the Mr Slim body is better suited to the 2D cel look than the most beautiful human characters available for iClone. However, I use ZBrush to extensively modify the shape of Mr Slim.

My answer is probably much longer than you wanted but then I'm not clear about your question. In a nutshell, yes: buy Mr. Slim--it's a great basis for stylized characters.

I want to know if I can use these body types in the Mr. Pose & Friends pack to fit my friends faces and outfits more like you said caricatures or stylized figures or can this be done already in iClone 4 Pro.

I also wanted to make stylized figures of Spiderman and other characters, so I was thinking that since the Mr. Pose & Friends pack said "Easy to custom texture and Material" I could make the costume like clonecloth.

So I think what you are saying all I need is this

.

This is how I made figures in the past using Google 3D Warehouse,3D eXchange, and Iclone 4 but I could never get everything right.

This is a Spiderman I downloaded and just used the Body style Cartoon in iClone to resize to more of a caricature but was thinking Mr pose & friends texture feature would work better to get spider symbol on his chest and better face.

Personally I think you have done a great job on those two characters but i think you have a very valid question that I would like to know the answer to too.

I'm sure Mr Pose and his associates are very nice characters and i would not want to offend them but what advantages do they have over the Jimmy Toon character supplied with Iclone ?:)

I find it extremely ironic that in iClone, I had always been wishing for more cartoonish or stylized characters, while in CrazyTalk Animator I have been wishing for less cartoonish or stylized characters...

Anyhoo, I have the Mr Pose and Friends content pack, and really like it, but for clips that are humorous, yes anonymous.  Like some of the TV commercials you might see these days.  They do have a clone cloth template so you can modify their "outfit", assuming you have the graphical talents necessary to do so.  I tried creating a couple different ones, but am certainly no artist, so I didn't keep 'em.

I have not attemtped replacing their heads, but I have seen people draw faces on them which look fairly good, again assuming you have some talent in the artist area.

I still wish iClone will have more cartoonish or stylized characters eventually, or perhaps give us the necessary morph dials to be able to modify the IC chatacters to the point they appear cartoonish and stylized.  Like that DAZ Genesis thing... That'd be pretty sweet in iCLone.

I also still wish for less cartoonish/stylized characters available in CrazyTalk Animator too.  2D animation doesn't have to be all obnoxiously cartoonish...

This pack reminds me of the Ps3 game Modnation Racers ,you can customize the drivers but the faces remain flat.

Don't forget that iClone has supported toony body proportions for any avatar for several years in the Modify panel. Are you saying this function doesn't give you the amount of control you want?

There's more to cartoonish/stylized characters than merely adjusting the width, length, or depth of a character's arm.  And truth be told, I've found the results from tweaking these proportions less than desirable.  I imagine if you spend several hours tweaking a characters forarm little by little you might eventually get an arms that looks just right, but then as soon as you adjust the shoulder to match it, it throws the whole thing off.  Try to make a pot bellied older bald man...  yikes.

Plus the customization of the heads and faces do not really yield very good or clean results for a cartoonish or stylized character.  Jimmy Cartoon is not what I'm looking for in a cartoonsih character, nor is he a good example of how an iClone avatar can be tweaked and modified.

By cartoonish/stylized characters, I'm referring to characters as can be seen in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, How to Train Your Dragon, The Incredibles...  These are the types of chatracters I'd love to be working with in iClone.
