Is it possible to use gif and other media to create your own special effects ?
and if so how do you do it.

Currently any effect files dragged into CT can only be saved as Props rather than in the Special FX tab. So while it is possible to create your own effects you will need to save them as Props and to do this you need to create them in SWF format. This can be done in various software like Adobe Flash or the very easy to use DrawPlus x4 which is available through Reallusion.
