I have a customer who wants to achieve a glow around the Buddha's head, like a proper Buddha halo, but without the face being also glowed. I created a ball with the standard golden glow but as you can see, the glow covers the face. I tried using an opacity in the centre of the flow, but that created a hard line between no glow and glow. I then tried making the opacity part grey in various shades but I could not achieve the look. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this could be achieved? Here is where I am at. Ideally the glow would fade off slowly also. Thanks for any help.

Instead of a ball, use the "sky sphere" scaled down to the size of the head. Since it's 1 sided, you'll only see the inside of the sphere from whatever angle you're looking from, and the front of the view will be clear. I use a full body version for one of my "magical" characters whenever she's got a spell brewing.

Hi Alley. 1). Try just flattening the ball. 2). Plane prop with circular opacity map. The glow can be reduced by using the strength or opacity sliders in the Material and Texture Panel on either the glow itself or on the ball/plane prop.

You can use standard ball but with flipping (in 3DXchange) normals. See attachment.

Thank you to both - I tried both methods and both work!! :) Top one is Kurzal method using ball prop in zip, bottom one is using sky sphere. Now the customer can play with glow and size and colour til they are happy. Very much appreciate the help! :)

Gizmo - thanks, just saw your suggestion also -:)
