Hi

This is probably a basic question but need help!

I have purchased two models from DAZ but want to use them in iClone

I tried exporting as obj in Daz and used 3dexchange but no colours etc come over on the models.

Can someone advise an easy way to get my daz models to iclone?

Hi

Thanks so much for the quick response.

I have tried this with keeping all settings the same and it starts ok but gets part way through and just locks up (Hangs) have to abort the program

I am trying to bring the Vanguard spaceship over

Possibly it's too high-poly, and thus hangs 3DXchange? I would Decimate (poly-reduce) first in DAZ, using the DAZ Game conversion kit, then export to FBX. If the FBX for some reason still hangs 3DXchange then I might try a straight FBX - OBJ conversion using Autodesk's free FBX Converter. Autodesk's free converter should drop the textures in the same folder as the resulting OBJ, and then 3DXchange should load them. If you don't have the DAZ game kit, then skip the first bit. But instead add a poly-reducing run-through with the free Meshlab on the OBJ at the end of the process (Meshlab: Filters / Remeshing / Quadratic Edge).

Hi

I dont have the game kit so trying the autodesk converter. I load the model in daz but only have options to export in bvh, dae, obj, u3d. What do i do here?

Then in fbx converter what do i do?

Sorry, not used to using these tools

i think the first step you need to do is export from daz as a fbx.

Hi Stu. I think Peter has the correct answer here. If you do not have the Decimator plug-in within Daz the best option is to try exporting as .obj using these settings which will ensure your textures will be OK.

Once exported use Meshlab prior to importing (opening) in Exchange. Peter suggests: (Meshlab: Filters / Remeshing / Quadratic Edge Collapse Decimation (with Textures). and thats what I also used prior to getting the Daz Decimation plug in. If exchange still hangs, then yes, poly's are too high (most likely), or you need more RAM. The only other choice is to export your model from Daz in sections if possible, go through Exchange, export to iClone and reassemble. Thats the best I can do I'm afraid. Hopefully someone else has the ultimate solution. Cheers.
