I'm new and I need your help. Can anyone help me with crazy talk 4 web. I have crazy talk 5 pro. Do I have to purchase crazy talk 4 web., and how do I install it.

As of CrazyTalk 5 the traditional CrazyTalk web component, the CrazyTalk player, has been replaced by an option to export to Flash (SWF).

The advantage of Flash is the wide distribution and the compatibility with all major browsers.

If you would still like to use the CrazyTalk 4 player and the text-to-speech component you would have to (also) install CrazyTalk 4.

Does the SWF export allow you to run scripts and do TTS on the fly like the web player and the TTS player do ?



And are you saying that CT5 .ctm files are incompatiable with the web player ? I was wondering if that was the case because I couldn't get any of the demo .ctm characters to work with the webplayer.

The Flash file output of CrazyTalk 5 exports two FLV videos (one with the talking character, one optional character with stand-by motion) that can be used in other projects/players as well, eg. to dynamically load them into your own application.

If 'Export HTML Page' option is ticked, CrazyTalk 5 also exports a flash player that is obviously provided as is without any further documentation. It is a more or less hassle-free solution out of the box which suits all those who want to quickly put a talking character on their website.

Scripting and on-site TTS are no longer supported by CrazyTalk 5 as far as I can tell. I never tried but due to these changes and huge improvements in animation I can hardly imagine that CT5 script files are backwards-compatible with the CT4 web player.

As light-weight and flexible the CT4 TTS player was, as huge was the obstacle for the average web visitor to have the CT4 web player, the TTS plug-in, the TTS engine and the exact same TTS voices installed on their machine. Since bandwith seems to be less of an issue nowadays, producing video files in advance and loading them dynamically into a flash player is the usual way to go.

Thanks for that RKD. I can see the problem with the old TTS setup and would much prefer the Flash version.

Trouble is I was working on a chatbot with a CrazyTalk avatar and using the old TTS was the most direct method to get speech. I can't see how I would do on-the-fly TTS using Flash, does anyone know if there is a way to do this? Thanks.

Maybe ask Reallusion. Apparently there is a webserver version called CrazyTalk ASP.

Hmm, I had a look at that but to say the information was 'brief' is an understatement. I think I will just get CrazyTalk 4 and use that.

Hi Reallusion ! Perhaps there is someone around from support who can comment ? Will you continue to support the old player codebase ? Also I am having trouble with TTS quality - please see my other recent post. Thanks :)
