I bought popVideo 3 converter this morning and came accross the same problem that was first highlighted here 6 years ago. I cannot believe this problem has not been resolved by now. When attempting to drop a popvideo into my Crazytalk scene, I get the message "the file cannot be imported because the codec is not recogniosed on your system". This happened on two of my PCs - the one runs Windows 10 and the other is still on Windows 8. I also downloaded the codec packages recommended here as well as anything to do with the codec reflected in the popVideo 3 : WMV3.
Having spent the day on this problem - and not getting the result shown in the YouTube video where the pop video is transferred by means of a mere drag and drop, I am totally disappointed in the popVideo 3 program. I have many Reallusion programs but this one unfortunately is of now value to me with the limitations encountered. I will be looking for another video editing software that can produce chroma key video with transaparent backrounds that can be used in CrazyTalk Animator - which is still a good program.
Unfortunately there is no one standard format for MP4. Generally installing the K-lite pack will allow you to use MP4 videos with popVideo but if the videos you have use a specific codec that even K-lite doesn't support, then sadly you may not be able to get them to run.
Try using a codec identifier like
GSpot to check your videos. This should tell you which video and audio codecs are being used and identify any problems.
