My end goal is to create characters in CC then pose them in various positions together to create book covers and promotional images for the book. I know this can't be done in CC, and unfortunately, I can't justify the cost of iClone at the moment. Is there another option to achieve this. So far, I've had absolutely no luck importing CC figures into Daz Studio..
.
Your two best options are: Migrate the entire project to Daz studio and use Genesis figures for the posing and rendering.
Daz studio is FREE but... you will have to pay for clothings and and morphs etc. to get the look you want with the Daz genesis figures.
Or install Blender and the free Blender pipeline tool from Reallusion and export your CC4 Characters to Blender and convert them to rigify and pose them as needed and render the book cover art in Blender.

I'm trying to have two characters posed together, i.e. hugging. That's hard to do in Photoshop and have it look realistic.

That works in some cases, but I often want to have two characters touching one another, i.e. hugging. It's next to impossible to get the poses correct in isolation.

What you do is pose the characters how you want. Save as an OBJ and import as a prop into CC4. You can have multiple characters plus one rigged character. God Bless!
You should be able save expressions with them too.

Hi...

You can pose and render images directly in Character Creator 4. You can also apply pre-made animations to your character. It is also possible to add props and build a basic scene setup.

So if what you want to do is just pose characters and then render images of them, then you can do that in CC4 without needing to have iClone 8. You can certainly use it in the same way as Daz Studio which you mention wanting to use.

EDIT: As CC4 can only use one character at a time you would need to use image editing software like Photoshop to merge multiple posed characters together.

Hello! Total newbie here. My end goal is to create characters in CC then pose them in various positions together to create book covers and promotional images for the book.
