I would keep the character as simple as possible when importing and add all the cloth and other stuff separately later.
In 3rd person character edit window, just click "+" in the Hierarchy and add the components as Skeletal Mesh.
This requires you to rig the mesh in Blender or similar program. Then just give it a Socket and it will follow the character movement.
It will be easier to control with bones. Adding the cheap and easy way of Cloth Physics in Unreal will probably give you problems later on.
CPU cost and mesh going through the character on special animations, like crouching.
I have tried to create all the extra bones in Blender for my CC4 character but it just becomes a nightmare later on in Unreal when Retargeting or doing other core stuff.
