I've tried both AccuFace and iPhone Live Link for animating my character through face tracking.

AccuFace offers much more than just live face tracking via camera. It's a comprehensive suite with numerous features, fine-tuning options, and the capability to create animations from video sources, among other functionalities. Although the $300 price tag might seem steep, it's justified given the extensive range of tools it provides, making it a good addition to any workflow.

In contrast, I find the $200 price for iPhone Live Link harder to justify. It primarily functions as a face animation plugin, mapping existing components without offering body animation. Essentially, it's not that Reallusion owns the face tracking feature in the iPhone :)

It’s worth to notice that it used to be available for free (just a blueprint) on Unreal Engine until the upgrade to version 5.

As an iClone8/CC4 user, I guess I have the right to complain about this :)

Opinions?

Thank you for the feedback.

You have posted this in the Unreal Live Link forum but I'm unclear if you mean Unreal Live Link or iPhone Live Face?

Please Note:

Unreal Live Link is still free to Indie users. Only professional studios need to purchase this.

The iPhone Live Face mocap profile for Motion 3D has never been free and has always required purchase. However, the Live Face App is free for your iPhone or iPad Pro.

Thank you for pointing out that I posted in the wrong section of the forum. I am referring to the "iPhone Live Face" product. I have also corrected the previous post regarding the "used to be free" statement, which actually referred to using iPhone face tracking to move CC4 blend shapes in UE4.

Please feel free to move this post into "Motion LIVE Profiles" section of the Forum, thanks.

However, based on the feedback, I still don't understand why this small plugin costs as much as the entire CC4 suite. What exactly is it offering? The face tracking technology is entirely developed by Apple, and the Reallusion product description for iPhone Live Face largely describes Apple’s technology.

Additionally, for optimal performance, users will also need to purchase an iPhone Ethernet connector.

I find this type of marketing very counterproductive in the long term. I sincerely hope this plugin will have a special price reduction offer in the coming weeks.

Best

From past experience I know that there is little point in pricing discussions. We don't know how much work went into the plugin, for example.

Before Live Face, we had Faceware, which was far more expensive, so LF was a good deal in comparison. In addition, it works much better.

I found that AccuFace works OK with a well recorded video, but that the performance with a webcam is lacking and similar to Faceware.
