A small comment on Foley work.
There should always be a background regardless (even if it's a low level hum or "white noise"). It adds depth and realism.
And actors dialogs (which always have some sorts background) and other sound effects should be blended with it.
It's a bit irritating to have a "dead" mute following by patches of dialogs and other sounds.
(I am referring to parts where there is no rain or music).
