Hello there,

I have been toying with the idea to become a marketplace vendor. I am making so much stuff just for pleasure, might as well sell some of it.

I have narrowed down the things I can offer, to the following four:

Custom Motions (using motion capture)
Headshot CC4 Characters
Custom Hair
Custom Clothes

What would you guys desire to see (and buy) in the marketplace?
What do you think lacks from the marketplace and is needed more?

Thanks for any answers!

I can only speculate/extrapolate based on what I see missing from the market and asked for in threads by community members.

Figures content: More Iclone compatible non human figures such as Mechs & anthropomorphic
Animals  with full compatibility with facial and body animation in iclone.

Motions??:  the Iclone market is oversaturated IMHO unless you are offering bespoke  motion services with your mocap equipment.

The only canned motions I see lacking in this market is
rag doll/collision simulations.
I sell them for Daz over at Renderhub

Thanks for replying, friend.

You say that motions is a saturated market due to ActorCore? Or you mean in general, the entire 3D market (not just RL) already has many motion packs? I am asking because I thought the opposite was true, but I may be wrong.

How would you advise me to research this matter more? I don't see much traffic in the forum and that troubles me a little.

Thanks again!

I have a lot of RL content already, so I may be looking for something specific.

For example, there are cars available, but they are all contemporary cars. What goes for sci-fi is more in the cyberpunk genre which is not what I'm looking for to represent the 26th century.

As to motions, there are a lot of packs but for the most part they are not modular, meaning short clips that you can easily combine. An example of that would be a few packs that I bought recently with short clips for gestures that would accompany conversations.

As I am not able to do motion capture myself I now mostly slice and dice and use keyframing.

Well there are several factors to consider
Iclone has the ability to import and covert  biped motion from a variety of sources  Mixamo, unreal market etc. and the market is
growing very day now that we can literally create motions piece meal with the various new AI systems and retarget them to the rigs in our programs ,including Iclone

So those, who are needing canned mocap, have little reason to get excited about yet another set of runs, walks ,combat, conversational,Dance etc. motions coming into the Reallusion eco system from your mocap system.

Also You cannot legally sell animation in the Imotion format unless it is through the Reallusion market place as vendor.
but that marketplace is already dominated by Actorcore
so you have to compete with them on both price and volume
and offer something really unique not already in the various marketplaces.

The reason I sell animation to the Daz market is because
(unlike Iclone)
Daz studio has utter crap for internal animation tools so there is natural Scarcity of quality animations
The Daz .duf (animation)format can be legally sold outside of the Daz store.
All of their various generations of the genesis models have
Different bone rigs thus any canned motions are not universal
and each new version of Genesis breaks compatibility with all previous existing mocap libraries without an expensive external solution Like Iclone or Autodesk MOBU to convert them.

I have made quite the $tidy sum$ :D,in the last six months, selling my Mixamo retarget rig ,to the Daz user base ,as the latest Genesis 9 does not work with Mixamo by default.

Thanks for replying Animagic!

How would you say this could be remedied?
Maybe it would be better if the animations started and ended in the same pose, to make combining them easier?

Yes this makes sense. So does the "yet another run, walk, dance pack" you mentioned.

Concerning the custom clothing, I assume the same logic applies, but using the DAZ market, which has very good quality clothing that can easily be transfered to CC4?

Agreed, for clothing you would possibly have to compete against both Reallusion and the transferrable Daz clothing market as well.

However it would seem that Most iclone users really prefer to stay within the Reallusion ecosystem/Hub comfort bubble rather than deal with potential problem of importing from Daz, so make your own assessment of the potential ROI of becoming a clothing vendor.

Yes, that is the case for the pack I mentioned (Speech Motion Pack).
