You basically need the government stepping in and forcing Nvidia to open the technology for competitors.
No terrible,,TERRIBLE idea!!
that is not how intellectual property works.
Now before anyone claims that “Duh Gubbamint” already has the authority to break “monopolies” one needs to understand that the Anti-trust statutes are to protect the GENERAL PUBLIC from tyrannical control of ESSENTIAL resources for modern, civilized life (food, Energy , water etc).
The Anti-trust laws are not meant to make sure everyone gets access to the private IP of aprivate company just because they like it and want to use it ....not in a capitalist incentive based system.
Nvidia clearly forbids anyone to implement it on non-Nvidia hardware.
Nvidia is a hardware company with no compelling in interest in making software (omniverse A2F etc), that runs on it’s competitors hardware.
Just as Microsoft windows will no longer run on the new M1-2 Apple hardware.
Customers without RTX would be able to use these to add life to their characters
- No need to export (characters that are 'unexportable' due to licensing could use the feature)- No need to export (characters that are 'unexportable' due to licensing could use the feature)
- Faster and more reliable(?) than 'round-tripping'- Faster and more reliable(?) than 'round-tripping'
How about it, RL?How about it, RL?
From what I have seen Reallusion has already provided a solution arguably better than Audio to face with the new Accuface plugin that captures emotions as they are expressed by the face actor.
Now yes you still need a NVIDIA GPU for Accuface but that is one of the prices you pay by staying within the Reallusion ecosystem comfort bubble.
I use a FREE video based facial capture system that works with both Daz genesis figures figure
(imported to blender via a FREE addon)
or with any non Daz figure Face rigged with a $90 dollar blender addon.
Both solutions run great on my Dell Intel graphics “potato” computer with no NVIDIA GPU.
