I have a copy of the Daz Anthropomorphic Chimp. The model itself is excellent, and imports to iC well. This will make a great iC Character.

I noticed this chimp has LAMH, which is new to me. And I noticed there is now a (free) LAMH reader. Supposedly LAMH can be exported via OBJ, so I tried it. No hair came through. I can use it without hair, but I'd like to see this work.

Have you ever exported LAMH into iC successfully? Got clues?

The TL:DR version is... forgetabout it.

Without going into too much detail let me just say that because iClone does not have a hair shader the ONLY way you can get decent hair for animation is the use of cards/polygonal hair (which is to say, strips of polygons with opacity maps applied to simulate hair).  There are TONS of ways to try - the most promising being particle hair - but the bottom line is that nothing else will work, and certainly not this LAMH thingee (which is a Daz product that just won't work anywhere else).

I don't doubt what you say. This LAMH was the only thing I hadn't tried, and the (reader) price was right. Yes, the results have been worthless.
The fur on the cats comes in in an acceptable way. To bad they didn't stick with that.

LAMH is a comparatively “old “hair/fur solution  that I never see  being used by the Daz studio users these days now that
“D-force” hair is so popular with the Daz content merchants.
Sadly alot of Daz  figure content is purpose built for optimum use inside Daz studio with it’s Iray engine.

I know it's old, but their free "reader" seems relatively new. I thought, maybe it's coming back to life. I did finally succeed at exporting the LAMH hair on the chimp (phew). For the time it took, and for the impractical file size that resulted, I might have expected it to look sharp. Not hardly. BUT... I found out if it worked. That was my goal.

I'm going to go ahead and continue to use these Daz animal characters without hair.

Below, the Anthro Chimp with LAMH hair, in iClone. As they say with cars, it's a good 20-footer.
