Ok, so I discovered a workaround.  I saved Character 1 as a custom  character and exported his animation as a custom animation into a scene folder.  I then created a new blank scene and reloaded custom character 1 along with his animation and got things back pretty close to the original scene.  This means I can now create a second custom character with completely different animation from a separate saved project file.   I can then save and export that second custom character along with its exported animation, then create a totally new scene and load Custom character 1 and 2's art and animation files into a new project.  No need to go through iclone to create a separate fbx file.

Glad to hear you have the process worked out now. If you are using mocap then you only need to save the animation into your Cartoon Animator 5 custom animation library. It can then be applied to any character in any project. You don't need iClone or CC4 to accomplish this.

If you haven't seen it already, I would advise checking out the tutorial below which should help get the best out of your mocap recordings.

You can look for some tutorials about how to create a character profile in CC4, since this is the official way.

You need a Character Profile that matches the BVH or FBX files. We made one for our BVH files years ago in 3DXchange. It's recommended to do this in CC4 now, but we have not found any information about this with a preliminary search.

When you have your character profile, you can apply the bvh files as shown in this video,

Unfortunately there is no option to import FBX or BVH files directly into CTA5.

However, you should be able to save any recorded mocap into your content library and then apply the two recorded animations into a new or existing project.

I'm able to use my Rokoko smartsuit pro to create live stream animations just fine.  I'm doing a 2 character scene and wish to try importing either a BVH or FBX file instead of creating 2 separate live streams. I can't seem to be able to directly import my saved mocap files into CA5.  Do I need a converter to do this?  Failing that, is there a way to blend 2 separately recorded animation projects into one?  My workaround is to export one projects finished animation into after effects, animate the second animation and export that and combine the two elements.
