When i select an item or model, the axis to move the item or model doesnt show up... rather the movement is tied to my mouse movement... i would like the axis to show up to move the items with this option. How do i remove the control from my mouse movement and return the axis option for moving items on screen?

Press Ctrl+Q to turn the visibility of the Gizmo on or off. You can also set the visibility in the Preferences panel.
