Hello, literally new to Cartoon Animator 5 and I have a doubt. I have a custom character present in Photoshop, that is a character and is in format of a .psd file. How can I import that character to Cartoon Animator 5 and do animations on it? Any tutorial or resource or any documentation on this would be helpful.

Thank You.

Hi...

There are two ways to make an animated custom character for CTA5.

The first is to make a Standard G3 Character. The benefits of this are that you can then use any of the included pre-made animations to animate your character as it will contain a standard bone structure. To see how this is done in the fewest of steps, please check out the tutorial HERE.

The second method is to create a FreeBone character. FreeBone characters are easier to create because you don't have to break the characer into parts. They are also more suited to non-bipedal characters (don't have two arms, two legs). Animating FreeBone characters is done by setting keyframes on the timeline. You can find a tutorial on creating a basic FreeBone character HERE

Hey @Peter
I bought Mark Diaz's 2d rigging course and I'm Having Problems with creating Bones for my FreeBone character.

I tried finding help but I know you should have the answers. Is there a reason OR am I doing something wrong that my Hip bones aren't connecting and my Bones are greyed out?
As you see below I started to add bones from the hip, but you don't see bones connected.
Then you can see when it does start to connect the bones are greyed out. ( even when the bones are on top of the Image.)
I followed the course step by step but I hit a wall. Can you help my issue Please?

Hi...

It looks like you haven't connected the bones together correctly. Please watch the tutorial below which explains how to create a simple FreeBone character. What you do have to remember is that if you are starting from the Hip and adding bones to one leg, you then have to re-select the Hip bone before adding bones to the other leg. You then re-select the Hip bone to proceed up the body and so on. The tutorial below should help you get to grips with this.

I familiar with that tutorial however where I'm at it doesn't help. In the image below I can create bones for the full body. But with the course I'm taking we created bone joints in PSD and took it to CTA5 to create the bones.
The video below shows the issue I'm having doing it Mark's way. ( I tried contacting hi, but this platform answers faster) I can always do it the way based on the tutorial you sent, I just want to see if I can do it his way.

The image is doing it your way which I knew how to do. The video is Mark's way where I have the issue.
