would anyone know why the mini viewport is not rendering textures correctly? I'm working on the character's lighting and it will be nice to see the textures. Thank you!

Also, because it is Quick View mode, you shouldn't rely on the Mini Viewport to adjust lighting.

thebiz.movies Thank you for sharing the link. I went there prior to posting here. The manual also shows screenshots in which the mini viewport is rendering the textures. Another video from RealIusion on Youtube also shows the mini viewport rendering the textures ( see attached screenshot) . ....and so I wonder if I missed some settings ? Your second link didn't work for me.

Animagic , Thank you for the tip. I see. Would be a nice workflow thought to control the light of my close up in the mini viewport camera, while I work on the lights in the preview window. I'm still confused on why the textures are not showing. Is that the intended behavior of the mini viewport?

It should look the same as when you set the Preview window to Quick View mode. The skin has a special shader called Digital Human Skin and that would not show in Quick View. As to lighting, things like Global Illumination or Imaged-based Lighting would not be shown proberly and those add a lot to the atmosphere/mood of your scene.

This shows the various things that do and do not work under the various view settings https://manual.reallusion.com/iClone-8/Content/ENU/8.0/03-Introducing-the-User-Interface/Shading_Methods_of_Preview_window.htm

Mini Viewport, You can switch to Quick Mode in Iclone 8, then you can see the textures. see photo
In Iclone 7 you could also see the textures in high mode. Greetings Robert

Just to let you know, you can also see textures in the mini viewport, if you just disable Digital Human Shader in the Prefference Settings. This way, you don't need to turn to quick shader.
