I figured out how to do it from CC4, but for the life of me I don't see how to export the animation only from iClone8. When exporting the fbx from the file dropdown menu it seems to only let me export the whole character with animation. 

Is this not a function of iclone?

iClone 8 is primarily aimed at exporting complete projects or multiple objects from a scene at once. It doesn't have an option to export animation only. However, Character Creator 4 will allow you to export one or more animations only.
