Okay, so the answer seems to be follow the video and turn off reset motion root when exporting.
Live Link exporting is currently broken with root motion, as there is not a "reset motion root" option for it.

How do I change the root motion in iClone 8? Are there any videos on how to change root motion for an animation?

For example, I am using the crouch_to_forward_roll_a animation from Reallusion, however the root motion is not going in a straight line. I'm also experiencing this with other animations and so I would very much like to resolve this issue.

When the root motion is enabled, I can see that the animation is facing the wrong direction as it should be facing the Y direction.

I have followed this video (which made sense), but the result remains the same:

I am transferring the motion to UE 5.2 using Live Link, just in case it is related.
