I would buy Character Creator 4. I wonder, if I make a character in CC4 and I export it as an Avatar, can I use this Avatar in iClone7 or is that not compatible and do I have to work with iClone8 (wich Idon't have)?
Thanks for your answer.
Axel.

Unfortunately if you export an .iAvatar from CC4 you won't be able to open it in iClone 7 because the file formats are different.

The only way would be to export from CC4 in FBX format and then import it into iClone 7 as a non-standard character. You will need to have 3DXchange 7 to do this.

There is a way to bring CC4 characters into CC3 as Standard Base.
But the routine is quite hectic and it's really worth buying iClone 8 instead.

Here is CC4 Kevin in iClone 7

If you are still interested I could outline list of steps for transfer.

Import as a non-standard character doesn't look good to me because probably I'll loose some capabilites such as lip-sync. Do  I have it right that the characters from CC4 DO import without problems in iClone 8? Anyway  an expensive solution.

If you import a CC4 avatar by way of 3DXChange, you can't change the clothes or shoes in IC7. If you import a bald CC4 avatar into IC7,
you can have hair as an accessory to apply to your character.. You do that by exporting CC4 hair as an OBJ and open it up in CC3 and
and send to IC7. I exported Camila, by way of 3DXChange 7, into IC7. In 3DXChange 7, you can apply lip sync type tools to your character
and have them talk in IC7.
If you have IC7, you can export a MotionPlus clip with audio into CC4 and your avatar will talk, That does not cost any money.

God Bless!

Import as a non-standard character doesn't look good to me because probably I'll loose some capabilites such as lip-sync.

What I have shown is a Standard CC3+ Base Kevin from CC4 converted to Standard CC3+ Kevin compatible with IC7 and CC3 (compatible with SkinGen, lisync... etc).
Again, there is a LOT of steps though and I could list them if you are interested (no 3DXchange involved only CC3 and CC4). Otherwise it does not makes sense.

Do  I have it right that the characters from CC4 DO import without problems in iClone 8?

Yes
