After loading ("import") motion and/or expression animation from an .iTalk, .rlMotion, or .iMotionPlus file, the motions/expressions work, but keyframes aren't present in the clips on the timeline.

Without those keyframes, you can't modify the animations. Once you create the file, that's it. No more adjustments.

Am I missing something?

You use the Sample and Flatten options to show or hide keyframes in motion clips.

Please see the two links below which explain these options.

I tried the "Sample" function.
This is my timeline.

The clip on the left ("default") is the original motion, with keyframes at the start and at the end of the clip. Nothing in between.

On the right is the clip after it's been saved as a .rlMotion file, imported, and then sampled. It's obviously not the same (simple) set of keyframes that the original clip has.

So, yes, you can see keyframes using "sample", but it's nowhere close to being the same set of keyframes you started with. Again - bottom line: There doesn't appear to be a way to go back and edit the clip once you've saved it.

In the original clip the keyframes must be hidden somehow because a key frame at the beginning and the end hardly define a motion.

You could try and sample the original clip and then compare the two.

I only created two keyframes in the original clip to keep the example simple. And they do define a motion.

"You could try and sample the original clip and then compare the two."
If I sample the original clip "in place" (without going through the process of saving and importing), the clip's keyframes don't change.
