Times of completely identical character or cloth, - when the "Edit Mesh" function is turned on:
CC3 program - about 2-3 sec
CC4.2 program - about 20-40 sec

The same time problem is switching between Vertex/Face/Element/Sculpt...

I was still hoping that the new updates would solve this, but it's still the same and that's why I keep going back to the older CC3 for character creation.

Why is CC4 in Edit Mesh sooooooo sloooow ? These differences are significant.
(Also, if you don't have such a problem, it is possible that I have something wrong and please advise me).

Has this been addressed here somewhere and have the developers reacted to it?

Hi...

What are your system specs including graphic card? This may have something to do with it as Edit Mesh turns on immediately for me with no delay. It could also be character related so do try with the default Kevin character and see how long it takes to turn on with that character.

You have to remember that as software advances the demands on your computer become greater. It's just like in computer gaming where a game from 5 years ago may run perfectly at 60fps on your computer, but a latest release may run poorly at only 15 to 20fps. Character Creator is the same and as new features are added and the level of character detail increases you will need a computer that can handle these new improvements. It's possible your computer is struggling with these advances which would be why CC3 performs much better.

Specifications of my computer:
Windows 11 Pro (22H2)
Motherboard   Z370 SLI PLUS (MS-7B46)
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz
RAM 32,0 GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12GB) (Driver 531.61 NVIDIA Studio)

Thank you for your response, I don't think it's by the system. I will try as you write on the character Kevin and stop the time. I also tried a complete uninstall and reinstall after the last update CC4.22 but still the same. Is there any diagnostic tool that shows where the slowdown occurs when running Edit Mesh, anyway when it starts it freezes always at 30% for the time I describe.

In Kevin's case, Edit Mesh starts immediately, you are right about that. Thanks to you I found out that this problem is only with characters that were created in the older Character Creator 3, when I import them into CC4, and I start the Edit Mesh, it takes an incredibly long time to activate. Do you know why this happens with imported characters? Any problem during conversion of CC3+ characters from CC3 to CC4?

Thank you very much for your thoughtful reply
Martin

Thanks for explaining more about the problem. Your system specs are good so as you rightly say the problem is not there.

If the issue is with older CC3 characters imported into CC4, does the slowdown occur when using them as they were or is the slowdown after converting from CC3 to CC3+? Also have you tried resaving the characters in CC4. You don't have to convert them to CC3+, just save a copy in whatever the original format was (don't overwrite the original). Then try using Edit Mesh with the copy.

I guess I misspoke, I don't convert CC3+ characters or clothes, I just import/open them, (originaly was created and saved in Character Creator 3), in CC4 and then the characters and outfits take a long time to run as I describe. I'm sure the problem is somewhere in my setup, I just can't figure out where.

What Peter was getting at was to find out if the slowdown occurs with character in CC3 format (as created in CC3), which is the older format. If so, you could try converting them to CC3+ format and see if that helps.
