So I made my hair and adjusted the color for the real-time tender window but when I hit iray and look at preview the hair color is completely different. Is there an easy way to get it to look like the original?

A screenshot would be helpful. My guess is that the hair is Dynamic Human Hair which is a special shader that may not be supported directly in Iray.

I believe I've seen posts with workarounds but since I don't use Iray I don't have a reference.
