I wanted to try and convert a geoshell outfit from Daz, it this one (the Miss-Quito outfit) was only £2 in a sale, so what the hell.
The textures that came with the Daz outfit where a bit basic., so it was also an excuse to try out texture painting with 3DCoat, as I've never used it before.

The biggest problem with Geoshells seems to be that they are multi-resolution subdivision sculpts, and all the detail is in that high resolution sculpt. To get that detail onto the low poly base mesh meant that the 2.4 million face level 4 subdivided mesh needed to be baked into normal maps and ambient occlusion maps. Then when applied the to base mesh, it could be painted. And rendered in Blender of course:

I had to use some Blender UV map trickery to get round some issues with the seams and there's some distortion in the normals where the sculpt was weak and the texturing kind of suffers in those areas, but for the most part it worked out ok.

With more time the issues with the normals could be painted over, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort.
