Hi, I'm looking to purchase iClone 8 but have one thing I need to understand first.

Is it possible to create a template project that has an Actor with lipsync and via the command line or ideally Python, bulk create videos?

I.e. get an audio file and programmatically feed this into iclone, update the actors etc and output a video?

Really appreciate your feedback.

As far as I know, the updated documentaton for iClone 8's python scripting hasn't been released yet. The old IC7 API allowed for loading an audio file into an object, manipulating visemes, etc, and from memory there used to be a batch rendering plugin but without any documentation for IC8, it's hard to know what the new possibilities are. This question might be something to submit directly to RL support. I'm not a developer but older IC7 plugins have been updated for IC8 so I guess there must be some developer documentation floating around somewhere.

For what it's worth, you  can look through the IC7 Python modules here http://wiki.reallusion.com/IC_Python_API:RL_Python_Modules#Events

Let's just add the link because I missed it too: http://wiki.reallusion.com/IC8_Python_API.

There was much more "fanfare" when the IC7 Python API was introduced...

I have spent the last 4 or 5 months trying to learn Blender. I wish Reallusion would offer some type of a useable free tier, because the difference in subscribers / content and add on sales is 100 to 1 difference. Some of the best IClone YouTubers have a few thousand subscribers, and I know of half a dozen Blender channels that have robot voices and have tens or hundreds of thousands of subscribers (they are still good channels).

I have to look at my time investing in IClone and I might get some money to spend in the marketplace, versus I see addons that generate hundreds of thousands or probably millions for the most popular ones.

If IClone were free, I still spent $1,000 + dollars over the last 4 years on stuff. No regrets because I wouldn't know about Omniverse or even be using Blender if it weren't for IClone getting me interested. I just think they price IClone to a niche group and it limits the content and tools being made.
