Reallusion CC4/Character Creator 4 Version 4.12.1125.1
Reallusion Headshot Plug-in

Hi,

Understand the character generation system required Enterprise license, what if a game, the CC4 character is with static outfit, user is to select weapons only ( not CC4 content component ) so that the entire CC4 character can be previewed first before entering gameplay.

Does this approach requires Enterprise license ?

Please advise.

Hi...

If the selection process doesn't include any Reallusion content then the licensing requirements do not apply. So for example, you can switch to weapon selection screen where you could choose a different weapon that would then be applied to your CC4 character. Providing the weapons were not purchased from the Reallusion Content Stores then there would not be an issue.

I am assuming that we can still use Reallusion content (without Enterprise license) in game that has character generation, as long, player will not be able to change/switch Reallusion content during gameplay?  Furthermore, clothes and hairs bought from Reallusion can still be used on (for example) NPCs?

You can't use Reallusion content in any form of in-game character generation system with the Standard or Extended Licences. However, you can use the CC Components listed below for multiple characters in commercial games providing you have an Extended License for the content. With the Standard License you can only have one single character in a game using the Reallusion CC Components.

Hi Peter,

I'm confused about the weapon.
You have said many times that the extended license is sufficient for character selection (full pre-made characters) unless the characters are customized.
However, I did not understand why an enterprise license is required for weapon selection.
We will not customize the weapon here.
Switching weapons is quite normal in games involving weapons.
Then they can't choose one of the vehicles that we will buy from RL stores.
The player can find a weapon on the way and add it to their inventory.
Then is there any reason to buy vehicles or weapons from RL stores?
With this logic, the character cannot even have more than one vehicle in the game, bought from RL stores.
You say that the character should always use the same weapon and the same vehicle.
Isn't that a bit strange?
There is worse.

The characters cannot even drink water from a different glass with this logic.
Because they will have chosen a glass.

You say that apart from customization to use RL contents, now selections also require an enterprise license.
Can you confirm this?

If we use a different logic on this problem, after switching the player character to walking animation, he should not even be able to switch his character to running animation whenever he wants.
Because it will choose a motion, an enterprise license will be required.

Maybe you mean something different here and I'm trying to understand.

If what you're talking about is simply opening a selection screen at the start of the game and defining a static weapon for the character, maybe this can be seen as customization.

But I don't need any customization screen.
The important thing is whether the character has a chance to change his weapon or vehicle, etc. in the game.

What I'm referring to is using Reallusion content in an in-game character creation or selection system. Under our Content EULA it is forbidden to use Reallusion content in any in-game character creation system with the Standard or Extended License. Only an Enterprise License allows the use of our content in an in-game character creator.

However, this is completely different than selecting weapons in a game outside of a character creation system. For example, it is common to press 1, 2 or 3 to select a particular weapon in game. This is not an in-game character creation system so there would be no problem using Reallusion content for this. In fact, you wouldn't even need an Extended License for the weapons because Accessories and Props can be used with only the Standard License.

Thanks Peter for the detailed response.
I'm relieved about this now.
