Hey guys, I'm trying to get my Rokoko mocap data inside iclone 8 but have noticed that upon import all of my hand/finger animation is lost. I'm exporting from Rokoko as an FBX with these settings: I'm importing the data into iclone 8 using the file>import>convert external motion: As you can see the body mocap works perfectly but there's no finger animation: Here's the same fbx imported into Cinema 4d, you can see there is definitely hand and finger movement on the joints: And here's a screenshot of the animation inside Rokoko studio: Thanks so much!

I have no expertise in Rokoko but if the same FBX that contains finger animation works in another program it has to be the mapping import of iClone that is missing. IOW - the Maya import doesn't have the fingers mapped properly in iClone. I'd try another import or, better yet, use your own (you can create your own imports using 3DX).

Also - if you want to post the FBX file here I'd be glad to create an import file for you.

Thanks for the reply Kelleytoons, I'm on the iclone 8 trial so I don't think I have access to 3DXchange, - quick additional question if I buy the full version of iclone 8 will I get access to 3DXchange? Last I saw on their website they say it's discontinued? Yes I would agree it's something wrong with how iclone maps the finger data, since opening it in C4D works fine. I've attached my export from Rokoko studio - FBX in MayaHumanIK, and would really appreciate if you could create an import file :) Is that import file a preset that you can choose when hitting import>convert external motion? Cheers, Dave

Most appropriate profile for your rig is Motionbuilder. It maps all bones except Toe_Bases. You would need CC4 to fix that though.

I'll create a better import map for you but I won't be able to do it until Saturday, unless Mr. G wants to have a go (tennis tomorrow and then mocap afternoon).

Sigh.. Converting motions in IC8/CC4 sucks big time. I have a ticket opened and I hope RL would pickup up and fix all issues. It is not even a matter of IC picking up wrong profile (Maya in this case). It does not have to accommodate for every other rid and customers can fix it in CC4. The issue is, that compare to 3DXchange, IC8/CC4 do not properly activate the rig. I included a profile, but it would still activate wrong (even though you might not noticed that at first, because issues with fingers destructed you). But I am very picky. Here is how the rig activated in 3DXchange: Same rig in CC4 (I applied profile made in 3DX and CC4 - same result). The character would be a few inches above the ground with knee bent. Maybe when you apply motions to character it would not be that noticeable.... Try it.

Just tried your rokoko profile and it works great! pretty easy to shift the character back down an inch or so. I'm noticing that when I export as an fbx (with 'use t-pose as bind pose') I end up with some extremely strange results when trying to reset the bind pose in Cinema 4D:
