1- Slow import speed of a cc4 model from 20 min to 50 minutes as fbx or live link transfer
2- After the release of the new version of auto setup 1.24, the problem with shadows, lights and hair, fabric and clothes has improved, but there are still many more problems. such as hair noises, shadows and...
3- Unreal Engine is not as simple and convenient as iclone 8, you have to learn a lot of settings
4- The character sinks into the landscape, or snapp to landscape in unreal engine
5- System resources are heavily involved. GPU very hot, The system gets hot. My graphics card is 6 GB 1660ti and it destroys the SSD hard drive.
6- Compiler Shader is very time consuming.
7- The discussion of voicing and lip-syncing becomes difficult
8 - Not using the PopcornFX plugin in Unreal Engine, Particles in animation is very very Important
Advantages
1- There are many ready-made and pre-defined packages and environments for Unreal Engine, each project is a location for recording animation.
2- The 3D models inside these packs and projects can also be exported and used directly in iClone.
3- It has the ability to create very realistic Landscapes. Texture painting, sculpting and ...
4- It is easy to work with the Cinematic part and it is easy to learn
5- It has a higher rendering speed than iclone 8
6- Nanite and Lumen are new features UE5 that do not have much impact on our work. We make animations, these 2 functions work great for making computer games.
7- Strong Dynamics, for example, the construction of a River or Curved Road and other things are very powerful because hundreds of plugins are designed for it.

You can also test
So I can't learn hundreds of settings in Unreal Engine
I can't waste my energy
Shadows and lights are really annoying
I have to do all the cameras, lights and settings twice because the transition lights from iClone can't cover the lights in Unreal Engine.
I tested for long months and decided
For large teams, using the live link plugin can be amazing and best
But if you're a one-man team like me, I suggest you do your recordings in iclone alone
I only use Unreal Engine projects and packs. They look real and are free. Like quixel.com
If friends have experience, share it
I would also like to know their opinion

iClone 8 and CC4 is the best software that I have seen in my life. With them, I have come very close to achieving my dreams

I agree with you on most things.

UE is a formidable monster compared to IC, in terms of capabilities and uses.

At the same time, as you stated, figuring out how to use UE cinematic tools is pretty simple.

From the tests I've done so far, I've come to the conclusion that it's best to do all the
character animation inside IC, and then transfer it to UE with Live Link and Take Record it there.
Everything else: set, lighting, cameras, VFX - inside UE.

I also think that IC is an amazing piece of software, with rare animation tools - but the native render just doesn't look good.

No matter how much you play and fiddle with lighting and fog, it just doesn't look good, doesn't look up to date, and gives an amateurish feel of a 2010 Machinima clip.
The possibility to render in UE really opens the door to a new level of production quality.

Fortunately, iClone 8 rendering works quite well for me. My brain is not big enough to learn UE.

I am curious about NvCloth in UE.
Is it any different/better than PhysX? Any advantages?

I know NVIDIA depreciated PhysX for cloth sims years back and replaced with a separate module NvCloth (which was never integrated into RL products I suppose).

Can you share something, vid or still, to show it?

thanks brother
It was a good idea
I also agree with you
I have a few questions
Do you work alone on the project?
When rendering, aren't small noises annoying during rendering in Unreal Engine 5? Are you comfortable with the settings of shadows and post processing?
Does your system not hot with Livelink Unreal plugin?
I agree with this statement, no matter what we do, the quality of the DOF is not interesting, the lights are not interesting, they don't look real. I had thought about it before, I thought I was the only one with this problem

This is the trailer for my most recent short "It was only a dream."
