When I open a CC3 Avatar in CC4, it loads find. However, when I try to Export FBX (either for Blender or Unity3D), I get a generic "FBX Export Failed" message. No hint at what the issue is. I tried converting to a GameBase but had the same problem. I did try exporting a CC4 avatar and that did seem to work. So the issue is not with all content.

I assume this is with a specific avatar? Or does it even happen with CC3 default avatars that you import?

I tried with a custom CC3 avatar and it worked for me.

I assume that it does not happen with every Avatar. I did not try a CC3 naked character. I did try the CC4 T-Rex and that exported fine. I have tried it with three or so of my CC3 Avatars and all have the same issue (or at least all of them generate the same error). I see that it manages to generate the fbxkey file but that is it. No indication as to what the issue may be. My CC3 Avatars don't have anything special. They are just CC3 characters with some clothing and accessories. I could possibly see an issue with 2 of them due to the fact that the accessory is a morph accessory but the 3rd avatar that I tried is really basic - just clothing and props with no special features.

If, at least, I knew what part of the avatar was causing the problem, I could try to remove/replace that but the very generic message of "fbx export failed" is quite useless to troubleshoot the problem.

Is there a log anywhere, where I may learn more about what may have caused the export failure?

Have you tried saving the character first in CC4? Once saved, start a new project, re-load the saved character, and try to export again. Does this make any difference?

Also if the character is a CC3 character have you tried converting to CC3+ in CC4 before trying to export?
