Can anyone suggest a reason that my actor jumps from its ending location in the previous clip to the start position in a newly recorded MD clip? It works fine in the preview in MD but the character jumps to the middle of the car hood before it starts walking now. I have tried every combination of the alignments but if I try to change a transform setting for example, the character rotates and vice versa. 75% of original size (was 669x19) - Click to enlarge

I have also tried attaching the actor to an existing path and using Auto, but it follows a path rotated and offset from the real one. 75% of original size (was 669x19) - Click to enlarge

Check if you have the motion tracking turned on. It may be that your root is at the old location, instead of under the character. 75% of original size (was 669x19) - Click to enlarge![https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/287ecbf8-4098-4977-aecc-c648.png](https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/287ecbf8-4098-4977-aecc-c648.png) You can check this by selecting the gizmo and scrubbing the timeline. See if the gizmo is not under the character at some point in your sequence.

Hi Rampa, Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried it with Motion Tracking switched on and off; the gizmo stays under the character at all times; but it jumps at the point where the "get out" animation clip starts. If I then try to drag the character back to the original position it just shoots all over the place uncontrollably. I tried using MD direction control to set it back to the original position, but if I type a number into say, "X" transform, other values change randomly and the character rotates as well. I haven't a clue what is going on but it is probably related to previously having to mirror other clips. It works fine in a new project with no previous animations going on.

Instead of dragging it back, open the motion direction tool, and set the alignment with the tool controls.

Hi again Rampa ;) I have been trying to get the Motion Direction Control to work to align my actor between clips but if I switch it on for the second clip (choose Match previous clip and Align Position and Rotation) and try to move the character using the values in the MDC boxes it seems to be erratic. See the picture. In the top one I have only selected Transpose not Rotate. When I change the Transpose Y value from 0.409 to 0 the other numbers all change and the actor rotates as shown (see yellow arrow on ground). I don't understand why that happens? It does this even if I choose to match previous clip and only Align Position Only. Any ideas? Cheers. 75% of original size (was 669x19) - Click to enlarge

Actually don't worry about it. I found a different solution. Thanks for helping though 😃
