Every bit of art you have seen from me so far was done on an Alienware R2 with 4 gigs of RAM, an I5 gen 4 chip and a GTX 970 GPU with only 4 gigs. It was an 8 year old machine with a 4 year old GPU.
It became obsolete enough that there was no hope of upgrading or even running stably. What you are going to see now is CC4 rendered on a machine with an I7 gen 12 chip 16 gigs and an RTX 3070. In short, I can now do shadows in 4k resolution from a dozen light sources with full volumetric lighting, depth of field properly and a lot more.. If I turned all this on with the old machine, it would have crashed shortly after considering suicide.

I'm with you. Other than my new RTX card, my new system is not much different from the old, but that 3070 card makes all the difference in the world.

Jeffster The Mighty (5/23/2022) I'm with you. Other than my new RTX card, my new system is not much different from the old, but that 3070 card makes all the difference in the world. The technology is quite impressive. I love this card. However the vastly upgraded CPU helps a lot as well. Load times are down by at least a factor of ten and I can run multiple applications while doing it.

Thank you so much! I've been striving for ever more photorealism in everything I create for some time. The new software and hardware make all the difference and I am still figuring out what I can do with it. Before, I had to be very parsimonious with resources. I really appreciate the positive feedback.

These look really good! Especially loving the atmosphere in them, and yes, updated hardware makes a ton of difference with everything. Keep them coming!

Thank you. I am particularly fond of the volumetric lighting. Right now, I am going to be spend a lot of time updating my characters with new skins and making certain that everything is beautiful in 4k. I also need to build more sets.

Very nice renders! :)
I upgraded my CPU and memory about a year ago, and recently got a larger SSD for my boot drive (and surprisingly faster than my older/smaller SSD, though my only motive was size). But I'm still running on an old GTX 1080 graphics card. I can certainly have projects that render slowly, but usually I have to say iClone runs admirably even on that old GPU, even with many of the new features such as volumetric lighting enabled.
iClone 7... Character Creator... Substance Designer/Painter... Blender... Audacity... Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual monitors. Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

I was doing it on a GTX 970 up until two days ago. The 1080 is nicer than the 970, but the difference in load times, render times, resolution of shadows without choking, lighting effects and number of polys I can push is night and day compared to the 970.
