I thought it might be a CC4 thing as it is not really made for animation so I asked in the CC4 forum but I seem to have the same issue in IC8. Maybe someone else has run into this and might be able to help.

If you notice in the image below, the hands are in the skirt.  I can edit the motion layer in IC7 and IC8 and move the hands away from the skirt.  However, unlike IC7, IC8 seems to reset that animation, at least in the MD environment.  Is there a way to modify the MD animations like we could with the others in IC7 to avoid these collisions?

Thanks :)

After your animation production with MD is finished, you can apply the corrections.
You don't need to do this beforehand.

I just started playing with this... I will not fully have a chance to dive in until tomorrow.  I see the record button, I get it now... record the motions first then save and edit.

Thanks yepkoo.... that helped a lot :)

if you think it's troublesome all the time, you can use the Pose Offset to set up a better initial pose to avoid mesh intersection after apply motion.

Im unable to dive into this at the moment.

Was just curious how u get a custom character in Motion Director?

Can the character be holding a rifle? (with 2 hands?)

Any good tutorials i can watch would be great.
Thanks

I have prepared this tutorial, I hope it will be useful.
We can combine MD animation and custom animations with some effort.

How about using Pose Offset function?

luke (RL) thanks for this info, it looks pretty useful.

However, I have some problems.
For example, in order to give the character the weapon stance pose for the video I prepared above, I had to delete the keys defined for the character's base and I had to define the new poses for the base again.

Actually, in my first attempt, I created a new layer on the animation layer and pasted the weapon poses on this layer. But it doesn't work

When I create a new layer and paste the pose I want on the first frame, how can I make this pose work throughout the entire animation?

In the part of the animation I want, I want to return to the original pose of the character.I know it references the base pose when making manual changes. At least for the different poses we add, there may be a slider that will completely turn off the main pose.Where we want to combine these poses, there could be an option to manually adjust only the merge part by increasing the slider value.

I also had a problem with copying poses.
I copied the gun pose first from the motion layer and when I paste it into the MD animation, it gives a DRM error. There was no problem when I manually selected the keys one by one and copied and pasted them.

I am no expert at this however, I was able to add my character to the scene and apply the MD animation directly to it.  Just drag and drop the animation from the content menu onto your custom character and IC8 pretty much does the rest.  This is the best part of this upgrade IMO... I love to make my characters move around like I am playing a game LOL.   My characters look like they walked out of a Russ Meyers movie and adding the heavy spring from IC7 to them (sad to see those left out of IC8) they really jiggle LMAO.
