Hey all....

So, in previous conversations about the new version of CC4 and compatibility with IC7, I was told that this was not possible because of the changes in the CC4 character structure.  I had to purchase IC8 as I could not export my characters into IC7. 

That said...  My question is...  What is different with the characters?  According to CC4, the default female is a CC3+ character.

When opening CC3 created characters, they all seem to function fine in CC4 and IC8.  So I am confused that if CC4 is using the CC3+ base, why are they not compatible with IC7? 

I got CC4 free but cannot really use it without IC8... so I was forced (in a way) to upgrade if I wanted to use it. Where I like the new features in IC8 and really like the new CC4, but for what I am doing, IC7 is more than enough.  If CC4 was somehow compatible with IC7, I could have saved 499.00 on IC8.

I don't think it's just about the character.
This may be necessary due to other connections we are not aware of. Also I think the programs will get a lot of updates going forward and CC4 + iC7 may block these improvements.

Also, iC8 can know the character prepared with features not available in CC3 and only available in CC4.
But it can be a problem as iC7 won't recognize these features.

This time, iC7 should also receive constant updates. That would be weird :)

Thanks yepkoo.... That is good to know because I do not care too much for the default character and usually start with one of the base characters from the "Human Anatomy" pack.  I just hope that if they do change the CC4 character they make some type of conversion as I have a LOT of characters made in CC3. :hehe:

When new versions are introduced they contain updates and new features that affect the saved file structure. That is why files saved in CC4 won't open in CC3 or iClone 7. This has always been the case with every new version from iClone 1 and CC1. So to clarify, you can always use older saved content in the new versions, but you can't use new saved content in older versions.

Thanks Peter.  That makes sense.  This is my 1st upgrade with Reallusion.  I was just confused that since they made new base models in CC4, it would have been a CC4 or CC4+ character and not a CC3+.  :D
