I don't get it. It shouldn't matter where the file is if you navigate to it. That is, unless you mean that there are external textures that aren't in the same directory.

That was the answer! I coped the object, pasted it into my Pictures, and 3DXchange opened it from there with no problem.

I would actually right click on the file on question and determine if it is indeed in FBX format, as several models downloaded from Sketchfab are in DAE format and would need to be converted to FBX before 3DXchange will accept them. I've run across this scenario multiple times when downloading props and clothing items I have found on Sketchfab and all I do in that case is import the model into C4D, clean up the model and add the textures, then export as an FBX. Blender can convert the files as well if you don't have Cinema 4D.

Dumb suggestion #1. Have you tried to copy the file to another drive or folder to see if it can be opened from there?

Hello All! So I bought 3D content from Sketchfab. For some reason, when I unzip it, the fbx is in a "source" folder, and my 3DXchange won't open the object..
