I have the timeline at 0. I add a motion and it changes the sprites but the motion runs smooth. I go back to '0' and change the sprites but then half the motion is gone, randomly, and the sprites don't stay connected. The facial props that are all linked to the head bone come loose and go in different directions. Also, the hand sprites change. Am I not able to use the G3 Human Basic Motion templates for a custom character that I made with the PSD pipeline? It all works fine if I use the very first sprites in the list but if I change them all hell breaks loose.  Please help if you can. Thanks.

Hi...

If you are applying a standard G3 motion clip to a standard G3 character then it should not be randomly changing sprites or causing the character to break apart. It sounds as though there are problems with the custom character that need resolving first.

Please post a screenshot of your character in Composer mode so we can see how the character is made up. Please also let us know which motion clip you are using. Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for trying to help but unfortunately for me I don't want to show this character at the moment. I know. Another person with dreams bigger than their abilities.
The character goes back to the root sprite/image every time I load a regular G3 animation template. The body and the arms. There's no separate head or legs. Picture an apple with arms and a face. After I make a different sprite the default sprite, it still goes to the first sprite and they don't stay connected. The character has 3 different skin tones to make 3 characters. The hands change depending on the motion but if I change the hand sprites after I add the motion then the hands don't change. I guess a way to work around this is to create 3 separate characters each with their own skin tone and all will be fine. I'm sorry I can't an image. If you can point me in a direction that'd be good. Thanks for trying.

Unfortunately without seeing how the character is made up it's impossible to say exactly what the problem is.

Generally you work with two types of characters in CTA4. One is standard characters which have a pre-defined bone structure, and the other is Free Bone characters where you create your own bone structure. Free Bone characters are great because you can literally animate anything, but the downside is you can't use standard motion clips with them. A Free Bone character has to be animated manually.

From your description it sounds like your character is not adhering to the standard character structure which may be causing the problems of breaking up.

If you intend to use the PSD workflow I would advise going through some of the character creation tutorials like the "Animate A Character From 6 Body Parts" on the page below. These should help you ensure that your character has the correct bone structure that will match with the motion clips you wish to use.
