I do the same with large KitBash packs. I load them in Blender first and take it from there. Each pack has a limited number of materials, so what I do is that I collect the textures for one material and save that. You then only have to apply a material instead of all textures individually. I have some more tricks, but because it's been a while since I last worked with a pack I don't quite remember...

hrmm, i do..and don't get this problem - I do in the sense that they seem to pack all their models in 1 large file - so you'd have to load 1 mega file and save in parts - so that can be a challenge, I don't because ...I'm looking at a mini set they gave out free a while back and it loaded fine in 3DX via fbx ...and they also have a blender file which should be better at handling large files through culling. Import that whole set, export part by part. This is the mini apocalyptic kit - I'd imagine the larger hits are bigger in file size thus more challenging to load - i'd then message the company and ask them for individual prop files - vs needing 200 terabytes of memory to load it lol. and this is a mini neon city kit they gave away as a free promo too - this one took longer to load - so I can see how a full kit needs to be opened in a software optimized for large files - like blender

That's kind of the conclusion I came to, but if there's ever any particular set you want some feedback on, let me know (I think I have them all). I just didn't think I'd live long enough to be able to use them effectively LOL.

Doin it right now actually with their free neo Tokyo Set. I was watching a bunch of tutorials saying you have to break them into sub props and what not in 3dxchange, but if 3dxc is installed you can just import the fbx right in and it gives you the options to break apart the meshes (into sub props). I would experiment with the free one first to see how you like it. I'm at the same place, we got another 9 days or something though before the sales done. I'm doing it on a laptop I7 1080 64 gb RAM, and its handling this smaller set amazingly.

I use them for Unreal, very poly heavy with a lot of time adjusting and fixing materials. It can be quite tedious, but never used them inside iclone. Maybe when 8 comes out.

VERY limited success. Can not even import parts directly into iClone, but was able to use Blender to sort of reduce the polys. Figure on needing at least 12GB in your GPU.

Just had an ad come up in Facebook for a sale on kitbash3d.com. Never heard of them and like all Facebook ads the first thought is “is this legit?” Looked like some really interesting content packs, I assume you would have to import fbx/obj formats into iclone and they look like they maybe quite large models. Would be really interested to hear from anyone who has bought from them and what they were like to use in iclone. cheers, Tony
