That's great, now I don't expect this feature...but some more sophisticated Animation Systems inside Unreal Engine require that the animations are setup with IK hand bones as they call them...the primary use is for the ik_hand_l and ik_hand_r bones to follow the hand bones and the ik_hand_gun bone is where a weapon or item will be attached...now CC3 would add these bones when exporting for Unreal Engine but as far as I know iClone 7 didn't let you have access to those during animation...it's important for animating in Unreal because Additive Animations will throw off the placement of those but we can use Virtual Bones setup in Unreal to address that...but again it requires those ik_hand_l, ik_hand_r, and ik_hand_gun bones to be present and properly positioned during animation....

My question is then will we be able to access those ik hand bones inside of iClone 8 and animate them? If not it would be a really great feature too have for those of us developing games in Unreal Engine.

Ah, nice! Thanks man...I've really been looking forward to it. Say if I had some animations from my game and I needed to modify them will it be possible to import those animations and tweak them in iClone 8?


iClone 8 will support import of animations in FBX and BVH formats. You can then edit them in iClone 8 and re-export if required.

This may have already been addressed (if so please feel free to point me to the post) Does anybody know if the iclone 8 update will have an update package for those of us who already purchased iclone 7, (I have Iclone 7, character creator 3.4 / 3d exchange, Curve Editor/ and the related bundle packages before the iclone 8 offer was available.) I would love to have the upgrade but I already purchased all the items separately, do anybody know if they will be offering an upgrade package for those of us who have already purchased Iclone 7 bundles in parts? (...I'd gladly pay a little extra for the upgrade.)


If you already have iClone 7 and CC3, then you can upgrade to iClone 8 and CC4 for a discounted price upon release. For any plug-ins you purchased for iClone 7 and CC3, you will get free upgrades to to the iClone 8 and CC4 versions. Any content packs you purchased for iClone 7 and CC3 will still be usable in iClone 8 and CC4.

Hi...

A system with a recent mid range or higher graphic card should be capable of generating the scenes shown in video. As always video memory is important so having 6GB or more on board will really help with larger scenes. The key points raised in the video is that iClone 8 provides performance enhancing features to allow building larger scenes and have multiple characters in those scenes.

You can already attach a character body to a CC3 body and hide the CC3 mesh and even export deleting the old CC3 mesh but once this is done it can't be edited further in CC3.  However CC4 might allow you to bring that character back for more mods etc. 
Additionally using a custom body you can also apply cloth physics to the skin if you painted maps for it. in order to get your custom character to work with a CC3 body, your character should be sculpted to fit the same shape and have the same pose, then you set the body as clothing and modify the skin weights if needed. 

About rigging more body parts, this is a request I've asked for and the ability to retarget characters that have multi-part seta like 4 arms, 2 heads etc that could be re-mapped for mocap but they haven't made anything public about this yet if they're going to pursue it or not.
As the program becomes more aligned to professional animation/mocap and film/CG solutions, I feel they are heading in this direction, or they will need to for flexibility.
