Hi all, I am using CC3 Pipeline 30 Day trial and I tried to use some cartoon vector art to see if I could get some sort of 3d model. I gave the professional mode a try and it really didnt work. I have attached the headshot I am using below.

My question is - does Headshot plugin work well with Cartoon like vector art with 2 or 3 tone depth?  I dont really even want a photorealistic human, but a 3d model of a cartoon charater. Any advice on what route to take would be appreciated. Sorry that the image is so big in here.

"Quick and dirty" test:

It needs work, but should be doable. The beard and the eyes would be the first major issue.

hi there, I will do some playing around with your image... it seems like what your looking for is like a clay style figure if i understand correctly.
One problem is you have to erase the eyes in the face material or its just an image on skin. Only human style eyes are avail for most part in the app. There is some cartoon assets like cartoon character designer for CC you can try
but that is the issue as i see it eyes and any element on top of the face that you want to retain cartoon look and move. This may well be better done in cartoon animator though i haven't used it yet.
Ill post an image of what i can come up with ive only been using the CC/iClone apps a few weeks.

update to get this result i applied the image to a toon body from cartoon creator asset after i eyedropped the color near the eyes the base color.and painted over the cartoon eyes.for it to look probpery you should design the closed eyelid in photoshop so they look normal when closed..i did zero face scupting to fix the beard lips issue but its def possible..those are also toon eyes fron the cartoon character designer asset even though they dont look cartoon in this iray render..if it was me id modify the source image after i have it to this point
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/d6d87bd9-766f-4bdb-b27a-7028.png
and you can then play around with textures and skin reflectivity levels etc.
this is the base image i used removed eyes and straightened lips and removed eyebrows.
hope this helps you good luck

I don't think it's going to work, because Headshot was designed to use photographs and doesn't know what the hell you're feeding it.
You need to find a photo of a real face that is similar to your toon and morph his features into place, using your toon as a template.
I'm not talking about trying to find a morphing program; you can cut, paste, and stretch these features on a layer over the toon.
Feed that to Headshot and it will begin to give you a useable face.
Then edit the resulting texture map on the photo face with the reverse process, morphing your toon features into place, and load that into Character Creator.
At that point, you can use the headshot sliders to perfect the shapes of facial features.
Then, if you want to be successful with the toon shader, search the forum for the cel-shading protocol I very carefully wrote out for the community.

Oh, this is interesting.
I made a cute girl out of a slice of pizza using faceapp and headshot, about three weeks ago. Really just because I thought the idea was hilarious.
Your problem here is depth targets, which Headshot needs to calculate the contours of the face.  Image is flat, so the AI won't know, on its own, how to capture that. But... there are ways around that.

Okay, let's see if we can composite our way out of 2d space. We start with this.
 https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/e5a24ab4-cc40-43b3-b01f-387d.png

Then we take him into a compositing app, where we can take photos of people, and morph them together, to give him the depth targets that Headshot needs to work.

The big feature I want is the cheekbones, but if can get a good strong chin, that would be a plus too. Faceapp gives me two composites, which I can morph together.

And...

Anyway, it's a process, mashing pictures together, but all you have to do is keep repeating it until your photo is aged up enough, and all of his features look about right? It's really tough to do anything but guess on a cartoon character, because your brain needs the same depth targets as Headshot does. The sweet spot for older characters is about 40. Then, in cc3/headshot, you age them up by selecting older character, and you press the button. And, you get this. Well, that's not entirely true. I moved his nose, and scaled his eyes up a little. But yeah. Basically this
