This Plugin is an amazing "must have" tool for anyone using iClone. :smooooth::)

It doesn't matter if working on a complex or simple scene, make notes as you go along right inside the Project and recall them any time when required for reference. The notes are saved with the project name, and this makes it easier to keep track of incremental scene changes and saves. No need to flip through a book of notes to find the set for a particular scene take, they're right there waiting to be opened once the project is loaded.

A true time saving tool for any and all animators wishing to concentrate on the work to be done and not have to organise a separate reference library of books just to find out what exactly was it that needed to be changed on which character or prop.

Attaching notes to the Timeline helps keep track of everything that needs tweaking, or repositioned for every asset in the scene, right at the desired time position.

I agree with what Gerry said.

I can be the king of sticky notes and random sheets of paper where I jot down various notes, but then they get misplaced or buried under other notes, and my desk becomes a mess.  This is really nice.  I keeps all your notes right inside the project they belong to, so you don't even have to look for an electronic (Word or Excel) file that might lurk in any one of a dozen folders.  I really like that your notes are attached to a relevant item, and had categories and priorities.  You don't have to be sophisticated with the TaskNotes, but it sure looks like it will support it if you have complex needs.

Two thumbs up.  :)

Where does this plug-in store the information?

I have read two people mention scraps of paper for notes; you all are less digital than I am (haven't written a note with a pen since I started ICloning once).

I know of 50 programs better for storing notes than IClone is the part I don't understand the need for this.

The TaskNotes plugin stores the information in a file, one for each project, that is either saved with the project or saved in a common folder as defined by the configuration settings.

The beauty of TaskNotes is that the notes you create are attached to Actors, Props, or a frame on the Timeline.

You can also easily click on an Actor or Prop and see the TaskNotes attached to it as well as click on the TaskNote and see where the Actor or Prop is that the note is attached to.

Thanks for the reply. If it helps others, then more power to it, I just prefer anything not animation related to be outside of IClone, same place as the script.
IClone has enough to do just to stay responsive and not crash in my opinion.

I use Scrivner and Scapple, and that gives me story boards and character relationships, so maybe people that take this more serious than me have more to keep track of.

I am a comment a holic in programming, so I guess if I thought about it that way it makes sense.

If this was built into IClone, so everyone had this, I could see a value for content creators to give instructions on how to use a prop or a plug-in. I have had to create Read Me image files and post them on a plane on how to use things.

I just thought of a cool bonus for it, you could create a 'Reader' plug-in and give it away for free so anyone can get it, and content creators who buy it could create content like I described and share it with props or plug-ins.

Kind of the Adobe Acrobat model.

Thanks,

Corby

Yea, everyone has a different way of doing things so to each their own.

Using TaskNotes over an external program gives you that link between objects and notes but whatever works for you is good.

Not a bad idea, I will think on that.

I will surely use it extensively. Like Viking I have scraps of paper with specific settings and other information. Having them in a separate document wouldn't help as that would just be scraps of paper in electronic form.
