Cameras and camera-based animations are exportable to Omniverse. In this thread we will cover the following topics:
  • Notes on camera mapping and view-port resolution
  • Tips for using Camera > Depth of Field

Camera attributes like Transform, Focal Length, Angle of View, and Film Back will be mapped to cameras exported to Omniverse.

Because Omniverse view-port resolution and Render resolution are not linked, so we'll provide some usage reminders.
From the following image, you'll notice that exported camera from iClone to Omniverse performs some rudimentary parameter mapping, making the transition consistent.

Note: Mapping is only supported for cameras withFit Render Regionand Fit FOV set toHorizontal.

Reminder:
    1. iClone's render set to view-port resolution does not send to Omniverse because the current Omniverse view-port resolution can't be saved in the USD file. However, adjustments can be made to the Omniverse view-port settings to adopt similar angle-of-view (aspect ratio) in iClone.

    2. Omniverse provides view-port resolution aspect ratio at 16:9 and 1:1. If you export iClone projects in other aspect ratios to Omniverse via Movie Capture with the same resolution settings, then the aspect ratios can match:

iClone Camera's Depth of Field settings can also be brought into Omniverse

DOF mapping only supports Focus DistancePerfect Focus Range, and Blur Settings > Near Transition Region in order to keep the camera's focal length consistent.

The following simple test case shows that exported DOF looks different in Omniverse, due to different rendering algorithms. However, the focal point is still preserved to a large degree.

In some cases, the exported DOF settings differ by a large margin like in the following example. Workarounds are provided below.
iClone Depth of field

The result in Omniverse is not ideal (too blurry).

Workaround: Adjustment tips in iClone:
1. Perform Pick Target on a mesh that you want the camera to focus on.
2. Slightly reduce the Perfect Focus Range.
3. Increase Blur Settings > Near Transition Region value

You can export to Omniverse after adjusting the settings for a more reasonable DOF effect that is similar to iClone's camera focal point.

Of course, beside the settings in iClone, you can also make adjustments in Omniverse:
