Unfortunately iClone is Windows only. If you use a Mac the only solution is to use Bootcamp and install Windows 10 alongside the MacOS.

For years now that has been the defau
t answer for any Mac user asking any question anywhere “After buying a Mac, instead of a PC, install boot camp then Windows and use your Mac like it was a PC”

Well now that Apple no longer supports Bootcamp, what now?

I was looking at buying myself a new M1 MacBook Pro and then realised that almost all my apps have Mac native versions (Unity, Unreal, Maya, Blender) but… I bought almost every 3D app and extensions/ plugins available on the Reallusion Software Stores (that set me back a pretty penny). and far as I can tell I won’t be able to use any of it so I am forced to buy a PC laptop just because I want access to the reallusion suite of tools. Well THAT sucks…

Well bootcamp no longer works but Parallels still does… and the M1 chip with integrated graphics is apparently über awesome… but running the Reallusion suite of tools in a VM… is that even possible or is that just begging for headaches what with you only getting to use a percentage of this system’s power now, rather than all of it like under Bootcamp.

Is it a good idea to try and run these tools on an M1 MBP under virtualisation or am I forced to get a Dell instead of an Apple? (Oh how that sentence hurt to type 😳🥶) Is there anyone here with an M1 MBP that has tried this and can give some feedback, please?

I'm not a Mac user but from the link below it seems Bootcamp is still an option but only if you have a Mac with an Intel processor.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201468

Unfortunately we  don't support any virtual machine options such as Parallels. We have heard from some users who claim to have successfully been able to run iClone and CC with this kind of virtual machine software but it is very unlikely it would be an issue free experience.

Sadly that means that the only other option to use iClone or Character Creator is to purchase a Windows Desktop/Laptop. I understand that is not ideal if you are a dedicated Mac user but for the foreseeable future that is the only way.

Yeah. The only reason I was willing to consider running your tools under virtualization is because of the power of the M1 chip. Saying to buy something old and outdated just so I can run Windows on it is really bad advice :P ...but if the M1 chip doesn't offer enough of an improvement to run your tools properly then it seems buying a decent spec PC laptop really is the only way to go.

I was about 90% convinced you were going to say this but I was still hoping for a miracle :(
Oh well, so be it

Thanks for getting back to me
