This scene is a cutaway from a series I am working on based on a side quest in the game Fallout 76. Creating new work based on a video game comes with it's own set of challenges: clothes and props need to be created from game assets, characters need to be synchronised so that you can blend in-game video capture (Machinima) with CGI work, the list goes on.
My workflow is: BAE extractor for game asset discovery Nifskope for game asset extraction Blender for cleanup and materials work Character Creator 3 for characters and clothing/props iClone for animation Unreal for set design and Cinematic output Premiere Pro and After Effects for post production
Myself and some friends have been working on this project for over a year now, and through that whole time I have gone from having never animated before (apart from Flash back in the day) to now feeling confident that I can create work that captures emotion and will engage a viewer.
That is (not just lip service haha) down to the Reallusion suite of products and it's integration with the Unreal Engine.
It's also the first time that I've felt like a piece of work is good enough to do something silly like enter it into a lip sync contest, so there we are :)
Hope you get something from it.
