Hi I have found an old accessory that turns a characters arm into a robot arm. But the original accessory only works with really  old characters.
I was wondering if their was a way to reformat or repurpose  the accessory (iGlove) so i can attach it to another character in iclone 7.
Its exactly what i was looking for and cant find anywhere else to either purchase an updated accessory to get the same effect. It fits on a G3 character if thats of any help
Seems a shame to waste such a good accessory as it works and looks great.

If you have a 3DX, then export G3 there, select RL_Hands only and export to OBJ, then import to CC as an Accessory.
Hide the other hand in Edit Mesh mode and optionally Transfer Weights as Gloves. Hide avatars hand mesh as needed.
Definitely need to tweak weights either in CC (or better Blender) to simulate real hardware.

A quick try

This is exactly what I want but i cant get it to work.
I followed your instructions and all i get when i bring it into CC3 is part of the head with the hair. The only difference i can se in 3DX is its the only section with a shaded ball in the hierarchy. Ive tried hiding all the other elements on the G3 Dylan character (its the only one I have with bare arms) it still doesnt work.
There is nothing selected in the 3DX window.
I dont know if makes a difference but i only have 3DXchange pro not pipeline.
Here are some of my screen shots to see if it helps.
I never imported an item as an accessory before but i went to create>accessory>found the tempAvatar.obj

I think you can export OBJ out of non-pipeline. But you are not exporting it correctly out of 3DX.
Click on RL_Hand only at the very bottom and export with Export Selected Only (you can rename it there).

And then when you import into CC you get it like this:

Form there, align it, hide the opposite hand (it comes with both), then Transfer Weight.
You can hide an opposite hand with material BTW. Slide opacity to 0.

Brilliant thank you so much for your help.
BUT
I dont have cc3 pipeline so cant transfer the weights is their another way to transfer the weights using other software?

But this is my major hurdle sorted. I am in the process of saving for an upgrade to CC3Pipeline but being just a hobbyist
My wifes banned me from buying more upgrades for now....LOL

It's a pain to fix weights for gloves type cloth in CC anyway.
I converted and paint it in Blender. It is not truly mechanical. Metal is still bending.
To make it such, it had to be redesigned to match the fingers joints with bones pivots.
But otherwise it looks good.
It is a single cloth for both hands. But has 2 materials. When one hand is not needed, use the material opacity to hide it and reveal respective hand mesh.

That is absolutely brilliant. I cant thank you enough.
It must have taken ages to figure that out. It took me long enough to figure out which bits to make transparent and which to not
This is what you helped to perfect.
You really should put these gloves on the marketplace.
How much do I owe you LOL

Thank you so much again
I know their is a full body morph to do this sort of thing but it is really expensive. If you was to do the same sort of thing so someone could create a character like terminator with bits robotic and bits human I would pay you for it in a heartbeat.

Sure thing. I am glad I was able to help. I am not sure about marketplace. It was rather a quick job - not at the level I'd want to share globally :)
Sonic7 is trying to make one in the other thread. Some good discussion there about it: https://forum.reallusion.com/486020/How-do-you-create-expressive-talking-Cyborg-Avatars
