Hi fellow animators....I've created a front facing character, but now I need to make her side facing - I'm not so good on photoshop but I guess I have to work through it manually.....any resources or tips/tricks to share please? Thanks!

Hi...

It isn't really possible to just turn a front facing character to a side angle character. You will need to have the artwork drawn or captured at the required angle.

If your character was hand drawn then I would advise loading up one of the sample side angle characters to see how you need to draw the new artwork for your character. There's no magic answers to this sadly. Photoshop can only do so much. You will need to be able to draw or edit the existing artwork to make it look as though it is side facing so using an existing character as a guide is the best way.

Hi guys. I’m new to the community, a lot of content to take in, so while I’m learning , I hope o ain’t annoying people too much with a lot of questions.

Regarding front and side facing characters, will there at some point be possibly an update so that I could link the two together. E.g, so that my front and side facing versions could be one actor, and all I could do is simply switch between the two depending on the animation?

Ofcourse I did see a few examples back in the cta3 version where someone posted a video where they smoothly combined two versions on the timeline, and everyone in the comment section was like “wow”. Partially this has been fixed with the 3D head, but again I’m wondering will there be any chance the body would also be combined with similar technology?

Never say never, since G2 characters essentially have that functionality but have fallen by the wayside because the majority of users found them too difficult to create from scratch. Instead Reallusion has favored releasing G3-360 character packs with one front facing angle and two side facing angles of each character.

While it's possible these could, one day be combined into a single character rig, I suspect it would see users once again become overwhelmed with creating characters from scratch because the templates would again be complex (people are already struggling with the fact 360 heads can have multiple sprites for different angles).

It's a bit of a case of careful what you wish for, do you want character creation to be easier or do you want more functionality that complicates the creation process?
