This thread has put me onto so many cool things, I figured I'd share something. New hair tools coming in Blender 3.3, looks like a game changer:
Cool. I see this and the first thing I think of is sending a CC3+ over to Blender, topologizing the hair there, and then exporting out as a groom for UE5.
But there is a catch -
Q: why is this guy wearing a hat, why not show head hair.
A: It's easier to put hair on the face this way kind of haphazardly, but not so easy to compose a whole hairstyle this way.
Then when you realize that, okay, you can make nice beards, but will you also have templates to make other full-head hair types ... maybe yes, maybe no.
Then also, with this, Daz already has curve-beards, which could be attached in UE5 as grooms. Plus also we already have Meta Human Groom beards...both faster than grooming yourself.
So, in the end, it's a cool demo of what will be available, via Blender, with some work. But it will be far from a fully fledged product out of the box for impatient users to play with.
Now, the reason I say these things is not to mope about something yet to come, but rather to tell RL -
Give us a REAL game-changer - a 1-button press asset-pack that lets us place instant morphable groom hair elements (Beards, Brows, Hair) on our CC4 characters for export to UE5!!!!!
