unfortunately indigo doesn't work with trees or grass, the solution would be to render the grass scene in iclone with a green background, then the rest in indigo and composite them in a video editor. Iclone does well with trees though and you can get a relatively realistic look if you fine tune the lights - tip, remove the lights ...and try to get the best lighting with the "Visual" panel, particularly the IBL lighting, once you have that tight, then add lights as necessary for final detail.....the realism look comes from the visual panel, and the shadows come from the lights...but the lights can also glare things out so should be used sparingly which is why you do them last. Good luck.

Oh well, so the export with trees crash iClone now. Too bad. Used to work just fine...

yeah, since the original plug in - iclone and indigo have had a significant amount of updates - some make some things much better ....and other things not so much. The better stuff make up for the stuff that doesn't work as well anymore though. the quality and speed of what it does render correctly has gotten a lot better.

True, the speed of Indigo is yet to be matched by Iray (If ever). Specially, when it comes to trees. Luckily I have this cached Indigo scene from long time ago, which had over 300 tree/grass items in it. Tried to compare now with Iray (project is little different though). Rendered in both for 70 seconds with denoiser ON (Indigo have a denoiser too now). Sun + Sky in both. Indigo is over 230 iterations. Shadows were always too strong for Sun+Sky though. Iray got barely 25: Hope I did not intimidate forum ladies

hrmm, nice, - maybe it does still work ? I do know i get the same issue of crashing trying to export out of iclone, especially with grass, maybe i need to experiment with some settings to get it back..I got tired of bugs and trying to get them fixed, now I default to work arounds and techniques when things get complicated lol.

Nope, it does not work even with a single tree. iClone crashed to the desktop on Indigo export

I was hoping to be wrong. I crashed on 1 tree also and no settings to fix it.

nice, good luck! I'm going to the store, I'll be sure to tell the cashier, - I know she won't be able to do anything about it, but she's nice and she'll listen, so I won't feel like I'm wasting my time.
